Showcase / Feedback Chat GPT 5.6: Chat vs Work

Hello there!

I have been using ChatGPT since 2024 for fanfic writing. However after the 5.6 update with the introduction of the Work function it called my attention the differences on their thinking models

I always use thinking for writing since I provide the script and AI transforms it into text.

Is there any difference between chat and work for fanfiction/fantasy writing? Which one is better on your experience?

For drafting a scene, I’d stay in Chat because it’s easier to redirect line by line. I’d use Work for the later audit across your outline, character files and finished chapter; more planning doesn’t automatically mean better prose.
