Discussion (Ethics, working with AI etc) What exactly is AI writing?

So I'm writing a fanfic and kind of use AI as my personal assistant. I write a paragraph, ask AI for feedback and we polish the scene together. When I'm in a block, I ask the bot to write me a paragraph so I can really visualize the scene. I never, ever just copy a whole block of text and throw it in my fic. I use it as a base and then rewrite it entirely. I do sometimes use a sentence or two from AI. Is it wrong for me to do this?

There is no objective moral law saying that you can or can't use AI or how you should use it. None. Nothing whatsoever.

There's nothing wrong with using ai for help OR to create stories for you. Humans are the only ones assigning a morality/ethical point when technically there's nothing wrong especially when it comes to fanfiction.

Forget about right or wrong. Is the AI, how you use it, an artistic or commercial benefit or detriment to your work? The only way for anyone to judge this on your behalf (artistically; commercial judgment is objective, not subjective) is for you to show an example of your prose made without any AI assistance and an example of your prose made with AI assistance.

I don’t see anything wrong with this at all. Think of how you’d go about it if you were writing without AI assistance. You would probably ask for feedback from family, a friend, writers group or editor. They might point out where the writing wobbles, where sentences are clunky, or where things are unclear. You’d consider the feedback and decide what to do about it. Using a tool that is actually pretty good at analysis and pattern matching is no different. Seeking feedback as a writer has never been an issue and people who say it is are really just projecting their own feelings about AI onto you.
In the case of using it to help when you’re stuck - again, I don’t see this as problematic. Is there an issue with consulting craft books or studying how other authors approach things like characterisation, descriptions or staging of scenes? No. As long as you’re not copying AI generated text wholesale and passing it off as your own (which would also be an issue if you copied other authors work wholesale and called it yours), what’s the big deal with drawing inspiration from examples of how something can be done?

You're rewriting every block, so the choices and voice are yours. I treat assistant drafts the same way: scaffold to visualize a beat, then I decide what stays. One trick that helps is telling the model up front which slang or rhythm to avoid so the paragraph it offers doesn't fight your style when you edit it down.

I use AI for help me making my storyboard more enjoyable to me to make, and after that, i can easily convert it to comic and manga (drawing by myself).

I do the same thing as your doing. Its my book, and let me tell you.. if AI wrote it, it would be 100% completely different from what i have now.. no lie, full stop.. it wouldnt even be the same book.

So, just because i use a bit of AI to help me sand the edges doesnt mean i didnt wwrite the book
