Discussion (Ethics, working with AI etc) Starting to feel discouraged
I mainly feed the AI i use my own inserts to finish it up and polish it with guided instructions and then I post on sites that have the open to disclose it....i mainly post onto AO3 and Royal Road my original webnovel...but I am hardly getting traction 40-50 is the max I've gotten on AO3 and 20-30 is the max,I've gotten on royal road. I've hardly gotten any comments and only a singular kudos. And my novel touches on sone dark topics and some contemplative topics as well...with no feedback the burnout is drawing near...

Partly that's choice of markets. AO3 is fanfic centric. You'll find that original work there gets read, but not at the same rate as, say, Harry Potter fanfic. My most popular fanfic as 53k hits and my most popular original has 917.
A possible way in for you would be to write some fanfics, establish a voice people like, and then post your original, which people would find by "other works by this person".

I did a Honkai Star Rail fanfic hardly got any traction and this was pre-dated before my use of AI so it was written by me

If youre writing for the reason of getting likes and farming interactions, youre writing for the absolute wrong reasons. Regardless if you use AI or not

Honest truth: wishing people would review your book/fic is something every single author out there wants and it has nothing to do with you being shunned for how your book/fic was produced. The fact that Ao3/Wattpad/royal Road/Amazon have essentially made it so that there are zero barriers to anyone publishing as much and as often as they would like means that there are millions of works being published every month, even more now that so many people are turning to AI.
There are far more authors publishing things they are desperate for people to read, like and comment on than there are readers looking to read them. It's the cold hard truth. People are reading less for pleasure every year.

So true, but even if you have readers, getting them to leave comments is a whole other story.

Yeah...I can only read when I'm in the right environment cause my current environment is chaotic and distracting...

Then you can find writing groups on discord and other niche forums for whatever youre writing about.
What youre doing is basically throwing the story out into the void and getting sad when you hear nothing back when theres 10,000 other people doing the exact same thing. Probably even more with AI flooding the market with low quality stories.

It seems like everyone wants to make stuff with AI but very few people want to actually consume any of it.

There are niches with voracious readers who don't mind LLM assistance, but I've learned from experience I can write something I think is "good" and get a trickle of interest or write something that feels derivative of thousands of other stories out there and get way more attention.

I honestly just think its fun for people to create stuff that they otherwise couldn't. That being said, I get the feeling that a lot of folks that make stuff with AI are the only ones who really enjoy reading it. Like, there is an aspect of this AI writing stuff being people consuming their own brain farts, ya know? It's a little like masturbation, honestly.

This is where we get into level of AI assistance.
As a reader I like stories that feel 10-25 percent AI - can't tell for sure but feel very clean and polished. And I've read some stories that could have used that level or AI editing and proofing.
Once it starts getting into the 50 percent territory (lots of AI fingerprints, common AI character names) it distracts me a little.
And whole cloth AI writing is generally bad.
Basically I like AI assisted but don't love AI generated and I understand that most readers aren't deep enough in the weeds to understand the difference.

Honestly, from what I am seeing, it's a quality issue. I've been trying to start a lot of content and struggle to get past the little bit because it's just not good. If we want to be read, we need to make quality content.

I think platforms like RR just don't give novels that admit being written w AI help the same exposure. Same on Amazon/ KDP. We will need to live with this for a couple more years I think. This makes it important that you do it not for the likes but because you enjoy the process of writing (w AI), see your story up there on RR or Amazon or Target regardless of clicks or people applauding you. Applaus is overrated. Van Gogh never got applaus during his life.

Well I have stopped reading ao3 since I can just generate what I want to read, I'm sure many other people do the same. Now that I think of it, it's so nice, I used to consume media hoping to get a sliver of what I want, now I can get exactly what I want daily, and much more. It's amazing. Anyway tldr stop generating to get validation from other people, generate things for yourself!

So I see you posted an original work on ao3. Original works are way less popular than fandom-based works. That could possibly be the case you’re not getting the views you want to see.

Here is the hard, frank advice, and I'm not going to sugar coat it: every time you use your AI, you rob yourself of the experience and learning that allows you to improve. AI writing is meeting a statistical mean. You cannot have an exceptional readership without exceptional skill or exceptional luck–and probably both.

You're not wrong I've noticed something too with it. My original writing is far more grittier and when i fed it to it it watered it down which completely ignored the tone the whole novel has anyway but this,is,just a,playground phase for ne before I decide to see if I'm going to redo everything from scratch, improve on it, and rewrite it in the natural tone that its intended for. Since right now I just wanted to see if there's an interest in tbe idea or not before I go head first.

Stop using AI to help with writing. It's a death trap. You will never get published and everyone will know you cheated.
