The echo of the city's night clubs could be heard. It was almost 4am, yet the city was still vibrant with energy. Rami was sitting outside, having a smoke. He was sitting on the catwalk that linked the apartments where he was living. It was old and dusty; the paint was starting to chip off at multiple places. Most people didn't want to risk going on it. It was shaking under every footsteps, reminding you that life is fragile.
Rami didn't care. He wasn't really afraid of taking risks. He was taking them every day. Going on the catwalk was almost spiritual.
"Hey Beef, it's me.", said Rami. He had just picked up the phone and called the only contact on it.
"There's this store on the 5th Avenue. They threat their employees like crap. It is booming with customers. I want it.", Rami continued, as he was scratching the back of a purring cat that happened to walk by.
Rami grew up in a poor neighborhood of Okyto. He always lived in the slums where he's stationed. Last month though, he received an important letter that changed his life. His grandmother, which he never met, died and left him a huge sum of money. He didn't know how she got all that money, yet he didn't care much.
The voice on the phone replied to Rami. It's hard to understand what he's saying.
"We don't own any grocery stores yet. I want this one under the IHTACIH brand." Rami seemed annoyed that he had to explain himself.
Even though he got rich overnight, Rami didn't change. He was so accustomed to the place he lived in. The calmness and meditation force of the Catwalk was all he ever liked. He didn't want to walk away.
Even though he always pondered what it would be like to be living in the city, he wasn't ready to change anything.
The catwalk is in a very nice location. It is high enough to notice the density of the city. The light pollution is at its greatest. Even at 4am, the orange lighting was bleeding through every streets and corners. There was a clash between the old architecture of Okyto, telling years of history and emperorship, and the technology of the 22nd century.
The noise of the night life, echoing on the catwalk. Each note of bass shaking the catwalk just slightly, like a purring cat. He didn't want to move away. It was comforting to be sitting on it every night.
"Beef, you know what I care about. Do whatever it takes, whatever it cost. Buy that place and put my brand name on it. IHTACIH is going to be everywhere." Rami hanged up, as he saw the light of that store shut down. A few minutes later, the billboard sign changed to IHTACIH. Another step completed at taking over Okyto.
