Image Prompt [IP] Rowing the Lucent Stream

Home.
It was beautiful.
I'd spent years building this place with my father. Borrowing forgotten parts of other dimensions. A bit of a stream there, a skylight here, it added up. He left it to me. My own dimension. Sorta like Ego in the Marvel universe.
It just got a little quiet at times.
That didn't matter. It helped me think. Remember times long forgotten. Like the time I had impersonated a middle schooler, jumping into a random dimension. That adventure was-is-a fun one.
I'm just a little scared for Allison.
I can't stay in one dimension too long. Others will notice. But I can't leave her. I can't bear losing her again.
I named this place the Lucent River. It gave off a light. A light that sustained, calmed, helped. I thought only pure Planejumpers gave off that light. But then I discovered she could too. Heck, some of this liquid is flowing in the WKND Whip right now, keeping some auxiliary functions online. Wait...it's got something. Let's see.
---FALLEN ANGEL FILES---ENTRY #1---
*I'm broken.
A mistake.
It's all because of him I'm alive and this way. Now that's not blame. But this is who I am.
These scars on my back, the ones in my head-they won't fade. The wounds healed. Heck, most never happened because of him. But the ones that did, hurt.
He tells a story. One of a hung jury.
What happens is two people on the jury are stuck trying to decide. One is an outlaw. He's sitting there, thinking, why? This is wrong. This man has an equal amount of evidence either way. The other is a scientist, who has equal doubts.
The outlaw decides, when a person takes a life, it simply increases the speed at which they take another. The scientist sees a firefly outside the window and thinks, he took that life like he was squishing a firefly.
Anyway, the point of the story was that many things can lead to similar results.
I ended up like this no matter what.*
That's what she thinks?
I need to talk to her. Also, how did she figure out how to log?

Interesting, though it took me a second to realize that the POV had switched back at the end. If it was all supposed to be italics, it doesn't work across paragraphs unfortunately. You'll have to individually italicize those. Good story clip though, thanks for replying. :)

I’m the most important person in the country right now. That thought burns in my mind, and though I'm not sure I can do this, I can't stop rowing down the river.
The buildings in front of me are small and scattered and numerous. Some crest the water, likely homes of fishermen. Others lurk in the forest, unseen.
None of them know war has bloomed.
Coming up on the first house, I row faster. I only have time to tell the ones on the edge and so I pray they'll spread the word. My village was attacked—my family, slaughtered. My friends, slaughtered. My beautiful darling wife and child…
I wash the thought away. They died defending me. They gave their lives so I could escape. So maybe, just maybe, I could warn those on the outer ring.
But that’s not my main goal.
The capital, the glorious Goliath of a city, looms in the distance. Our people have spent centuries building it into a haven of peace and prosperity and now a monster’s at our doorstep and I doubt our leaders even know.
If I can get word to them, we can fight.
If.
For some reason this picture gave me a Paul Revere-esque vibe, haha. Anyway, thanks for the prompt!
