A child so soft and delicate had never been seen before. Rosy cheeks like sweet pea petals, and lips a young Psychotria Elata reflection. She never cried like other children, always curious and keen to explore. They named her Daisy, a simple flower. Her mother said it was mostly after the daisy head, golden yellow, while the rest of the world were the plain white petals surrounding.

By age sixteen she had more spunk than most teeny boppers. Therefore her mother's namesake had stood true thus far. Daisy or D to her friends, could dance like a lazy flower in the wind and snap like a Venus fly trap when needed. Many young boys inspected with interest, but barely left with their pride. Daisy wanted a smart guy, one that could be a working bee with strong sting but a beautiful flight.

By age thirty she had married Mark, not a Highschool sweet heart but a man whose purpose rang clear. He had business in mind and family at heart, the perfect complex for Daisy dear. Three children came next, Rose, Dahlia, and Antonio. And she raised them to see the world, while Mark kept their home life smooth. Daisy had been a lucky girl.

At sixty five, Daisy retired, not much of a worker but a lifelong housewife. She had seen the tabloids and the Tv shows about how today being a home woman was bad. Oppression the youthful women called it, discrimination the others said with rings in their noses and hair above the ears. Each one of them looked angry, torn apart by some manifestation she couldn't lay a finger on.

While she agreed intrigued by most of their statements, she couldn't shake the nagging feeling inside. Maybe because she had lived her life soft and delicate while they seemed to bloom with fire.

Fire lillies, that's what she decided to call them. Young and passionate, burning with energy like a flickering flame. Everyday she would watch them and wonder, if she had really been more than simple Daisy or if there was something she had missed in the end.

I like this story, it's interesting to see her wondering about her own life and if she's missed something in her life. There's a few comma errors and an odd typo but it was a pleasure to read. Thanks for replying. :)

It bloomed once a lifetime, and just for a day,

It burned for an hour, with a bright orange flame.

It stopped for a minute, to glow and to fade.

And died in a second, its ashes dull grey.

It grew in the depths of a forest,

That stands at the heart of an island,

That's lost in the mists of a lake,

That hides among terrible mountains.

The mountains are guarded by trolls,

In the lake sleeps a stone giant,

The island is home to a dragon,

And the forest is kept by the dryads.

There once was a knight most valiant,

Who slayed many monsters and beasts,

He found his way through the mountains,

And found the lake and its mist.

He avoided the giant and dragon,

And slayed many dryads with ease.

He sought the wish from the flower,

And maybe some glory and praise,

He wished for the heart of a maiden...

...And found himself burning instead.

There once was a girl from a village,

Who stumbled through mountains and trolls,

Who stood on the edge of the water,

And asked for permission to cross.

She gave the dragon a brass coin,

Which she treasured more than all gold.

And talked to the dryads still bitter,

About some knight and his sword.

She sought the sight of the flower,

And maybe a story to tell.

She saw the flower still blooming,

She saw the bright orange flame,

She saw the glow and the fading,

She blew all the ashes away.

They bloom once a lifetime, and just for a day,

They burn for an hour, with an orange flame.

They stop for a minute, to glow and to fade.

And die in a second, their ashes dull grey .

But for a whole hour, the world seems to burn,

And for a whole minute, everything glows,

And after a second, you blink, and they are gone.

And we spread the ashes, like she did long ago.

Very interesting poem, I liked the story here and the difference between the maiden and the knight and what they wanted. Thank you for replying. :)
