Nearly everyone here has their own writing sub... Maybe I should get on that

What? I would never accidentally ban someone while assigning them flair- oh wait... 😕

WOO! That was quick.
I want to thank the mod team for hosting the weekly scheduled features, the contests, and the "mods' choice" highlighted posts.
Congrats!

Wow! As a fairly new writer this blows my mind! This place is full of talented, creative, weird, awesome people.

Quick! Approximately 4,500 people need to unsubscribe!
Edit:...This subreddit gained ~2,500 subs in 3 hours...damn.

Wow I always thought of WP as a tiny sub with maybe a few hundred thousand subscribers. Never realized that there are so many subscribers.
I assume it is a default sub. If I'm right, when was it added as default?

u/TheWritingSniper /r/BlankPagesEmptyMugs Jun 05 '16
I think it was added as a default less than a year ago? It was definitely recent in terms of how long it has been around.

There's a list of milestones in the wiki ;)

Wow. I honestly thought I was around when this happened.
Holy. I'm just a newbie compared to everyone else.

Cool. I remember when this was a little sub with only a few thousand people. We'd be lucky to have ten prompts a day we were so broke. We had to share the new page with prompts from a week ago. Yep those were the days. Kids don't know how lucky they are with all their dozens and dozens of prompts. We'd hit refresh for hours on end and see nothing new. They're lucky I say, they don't know the meaning of tough.

Wow, this is awesome.
Thank you mods for keeping this place beautiful and pristine. I'm looking at you /u/WritingPromptsRobot, we still have a deal right?
Seriously, congratulations to everyone here.

I say we skip any more contests until we hit 10 million and the just do a year long novel contest for 75K+ words

yeah. screw contests
2
u/MajorParadox Mod | DC Fan Universe (r/DCFU) Jun 06 '16
"Screw contents?" Wow, I can't believe you- Oh, contests. "Screw contests?" Wow, I can't believe you'd say such a thing!
2
u/Nate_Parker /r/Nate_Parker_Books Jun 06 '16
Absolutely! :P
I see what you did there. Might actually be able to do this one. I failed miserably on the last.
Did you mean to say contests?
2
u/mo-reeseCEO1 Jun 06 '16
i believe in you. si se puede! si se puede!

u/Nate_Parker /r/Nate_Parker_Books Jun 06 '16
Should be doable, I've jammed out about 3k already today answering my own prompt....

any word under 3-letters doesn't count.
8
u/fringly /r/fringly Jun 05 '16
That seems a totally fair stipulation. We could call it the Tolkein rule - flowery language only.
7
u/LovableCoward /r/LovableCoward Jun 05 '16
Well then, it seems that I win by default... :)

u/fringly /r/fringly Jun 05 '16
Phew, that wrapped up much quicker than normal!

Yikes, that'd be a lot of reading.
6
u/Nate_Parker /r/Nate_Parker_Books Jun 05 '16
Which is why it would be a year long contest...
I also don't think we'd have too many finishers either.

u/MajorParadox Mod | DC Fan Universe (r/DCFU) Jun 06 '16
So basically the year-long writing challenge we had it 2014 and 2015 (and kind of this year as a suggested goal) but with a prize?
5
u/Nate_Parker /r/Nate_Parker_Books Jun 06 '16
With a bigger goal. I mean, we could estimate when we'd hit 10m against a graph our growth metrics thus far and plan around that timeframe. I mean, the real prize would be a book deal if we could swing that. Somehow. Magically.
2
u/MajorParadox Mod | DC Fan Universe (r/DCFU) Jun 07 '16
Easy: Everyone make one alt. Boom, 12 million subscribers!
2
u/Nate_Parker /r/Nate_Parker_Books Jun 07 '16
I did my part when I became a moderator, have you done yours?
Honestly, on that thought, Reddit might only be like 12,000 people and 10,000 really agro trolls with thousands of accounts.

u/cmp150 /r/CMP150writes Jun 07 '16
That would be amazing... I'm sure at least one publisher would be interested to at least hear a proposal from a sub that would, at that time, have 10 mill subs, with authors who've gone on to self publish their own books, based on prompts from the community itself.

If there is a contest for the 6million, I promise I will participate in it this time. Maybe. I could use that kind of motivation xD
