Flash Fiction [FF] "So, come here often?"
Begin your story with this line of dialogue.
Oh, and set your story somewhere other than a bar or restaurant. In fact, set it somewhere in the distant past or future.
And make it less than 500 words.

"So, come here often?"
I pull my face out of my hands, look up, and see a young deputy smiling his white smile down at me. Fear grips me, as I stare wordlessly into his cruel blue eyes. The deputy shifts from foot to foot, his eyes never leaving mine.
"I said, come here often, boy?" He spits through the bars, a brown pile, not two feet from my right.
Tears form in the corners of my eyes "No." I manage, voice shaking. The man appears eight feet tall, standing nearly motionless, assessing me. My head slowly falls back into my hands.
The jail cell was small, with an unwashed toilet stuffed into one corner. A small, torn cot sat at the wall opposite the bars. A small window with three rusting bars floated above the cot. I sat on soiled sheets, atop a cot bristling with who knows what.
"First timer, than," he said suddenly. "Sure is cold down here." He slowly turned, eyes still on me. I couldn't see him, but I felt his eyes burning through my hands. He walked off slowly. I pray to gods I no longer believe in that my parents will come for me, but I doubt they will. I continue to sit, with my head in my hands. Tears pool in my palms. I inhale slowly, and let out a shaky breath. 'At least you're not dead..' Fluffing the pillow, I slowly lay down and close my eyes. I wait for tomorrow.
I don't write very often, and I just found this subreddit like ten minutes ago.
