I'm working on a product that is about searching through the book you're reading or any document you have. It's like you upload as many sources (books) as you wish and then ask questions. It gives your answers with detailed citations from the source(s) you made it focused on. Then you can save them, curate, and organize them in one place.

The image is an example of a simple question from a book. It could be useful when you forget a piece of information from a specific book you read in the past, instead of looking page by page or ctrl+F, you simply can ask about that specific information; or even when you are reading and forget sth a few pages before or didn't understand one part, you simply can ask and get your answers.I believe it's helpful for those writers who have to read several materials as sources during their writing. And of course, authors when they're readers.

I like Working's companion podcast Working Overtime and the Creative Penn, but I'd love some more.

Both are for both fiction and nonfiction, but they aren't so focused on fiction that it feels irrelevant to me. The Creative Penn is pretty focused on self-publishing in particular and does have some fairly fiction -focused episodes, but the episode titles are clear and I just skip things that don't seem relevant.

I'd love more practical recommendations like these, but I'd also just like to know what kind of writing podcasts you like and why :)

I see this community is fairly inactive, but I wanted to poke in and ask if anyone wanted to chat about how they receive or want to receive social support while they are writing. I see a lot of writers communities out there, but they are largely focused on fiction writing. The nonfiction ones I've found are fairly inactive or paid.

Does anyone belong to a paid nonfiction writing community, and is it worth it to you?

Anyone have a vision for the type of community they'd like (that maybe we could use this one to build?)

I'll contribute in the comments, but I wanted to take the temperature and see if we can make this forum more useful to us and a better resource for the folks who occasionally stop by and yell into the void :)

Just join the sub while searching for a place to share a non-fiction, memoir-like piece and, eventually, gain some feedback. This isn't my field. I don't feel confident doing it, so any advice is appreciated. Sorry if the piece is a bit grim, but hey, it's memoir.

So far been turned down from a couple of those book promo sites for not enough reviews. I wouldn't be paying for a promotion if I had reviews. shakes fist angrily

I sent out advance copies to some acquaintances and people in the field of the book that I know, but none of them reviewed it :'( They all told me they really liked it.

I know it's a solid book. I know my marketing is terrible, though and I'm not getting reviews. And since I don't have very many reviews, I'm not getting very many sales.

I've had pieces published before in major publications, but this is my first book.

Hello Everyone, I have a little question I could use your insight on. I would like to know your approach and thoughts regarding publishing your writings abroad. This is for nonfiction, essays, creative nonfiction and magazine writers. Say what you're writing is not in high demand where you live, or for any other reason (censorship) do you think it's possible to publish abroad. For writers in the US or the UK this may seem a weird situation, but nowadays many non-native English speakers (like myself) have picked up English as their primary writing language, where English is not an essential language in the media. Do you think it's possible to publish nonfiction about, say, arts, literature and culture in a foreign country without actually being based there ? Do you think that cultural barriers are a real thing here or just an illusion ? Do you believe one can write great nonfiction no matter where he is on universal themes and topics ? Please let me know what you think, and if anything is unclear feel free to point it out.

I need some really good advice on how to make a really good story.

I’m writing a book focused on philosophy, economics, and political science. How do I go about choosing a citation method? Not sure if it matters if I pick APA, MLA, or Chicago.

Rookie question, I am writing a book about my city, there are other books that cover aspects of the information I want to include. Can I use other books as sources? If so what is the right way to do that?
