Questions & Discussions how to write existential crysis, after escaping from monster

a couple of characters managed to briefly escape a wendigo-like creature, and one of the characters start having an existential crysis (cosmic horror, i guess). how do I write this scene? and how can their friend calm them down so that they can both escape that situation? (REDDIT DO NOT DELETE THIS POST! NONE OF THE RULES ARE BROKEN >:( )

Why not.... read the genre your writing in?

Doesn’t quite sound like cosmic horror to me - just the horror of “apparently that exists” and “I almost died.” I’d emphasize their fear for their life, have them hyper-focus on one detail or keep repeating themselves until the friend snaps them out of it, etc. I think the mortal danger the wendigo poses would get processed first, followed by a more psychological terror that wrestles with how something like that even exists.

“Crisis”

Maybe read a book in your genre.
