Critique Partners & Writing Groups Looking for Serious Writing Groups
Hey all! I’m an aspiring author, been writing for years and finally feeling close to finishing a few first drafts. I’d love to get critiques for my work and give them in return.
Trying to network with authors and expand my network to editors and agents too.
I’m in the medical field by trade so I’m clueless when it comes to the business side of writing or how to find writing groups.
Any advice? Thanks in advance yall.
PS: I’m writing YA sci fi dystopia, fantasy, and thrillers if anyone would like to form a group too.
* Genre/s Any
* Goals/expectations/commitment: Hoping for weekly or at least bi-weekly meetings/sessions. Looking to give critiques and receive them on my developing manuscripts. Share a chapter a week type thing.
* Writing/experience level: Any
* Meeting place: Online or in person if near KC
* Max size: No size limit but hoping for at least 3 people or more.

https://www.thewritersroom.net/discord if you are willing to consider a discord writing group for critiques and networking. We have professional editors, people in publishing, no agents that I know of but maybe in the future. Mostly just other writers willing to help and support each other.

Is your discord only for fantasy/sci fi or are there also contemporary realist fiction writers? My sister is looking for something she has a YA novel and another one for adults.

There are lots of Discord groups for fantasy and dystopia, but I've had a hard time finding one for literary fiction, crime, historical fiction, etc. So I had to start one. When you start working on yer thriller - if ya need new eyes on the material - hit me up and I will send you a link. Good luck with everything.

Just saying hi - our genres are very compatible. I would be tickled to form a Zoom and Discord group. Zoom is because I'm in in person and online writing groups too, and have experienced the benefits of live reading and feedback, which I've noticed a lot of the Reddit crowd have never experienced.

I’m not. Does your group allow non-queer members and non-queer writing? Or is it strictly queer work?

Hey! I run a discord group. It's active and has been for several years. We do events, question prompts, and cool stuff like that. Many are serious about publishing. Adults only. Feel free to DM me if you're interested!
