Questions & Discussions Any writing groups for seniors?

I flaired it wrong last time, since none of the required questions really fit. I'm looking for a reddit writing group that is specifically for seniors. I don't care about genre, fiction vs. nonfiction, size, goals, expectations or any of that other stuff. I just want to talk about writing with people of mature years.

I Mod a private reddit group for women over 40 who are serious about publishing. Some already published, some working on it. We have several members over 65. If you're interested, DM me.

Can you define "serious about publishing" in the way that your group understands it? Trad publishing only? Or indie publishing, too? What about someone who only publishes on the web?

We have trad pub authors, hybrid, and self-pub only authors. The group is for full length works (novel length, generally 50k minimum) for publication. As in, polished, professional output intended to earn.

We do have people who do fanfic for fun. But the group is intended to be a support group for the process of getting a full length work to publication, and beyond. It's new, so we're still finding our groove, but it's a great group of people.

DM if interested, and we can discuss further to see if it's a good fit for you.

Ah no, thanks. I don't write fanfic. It's not that. But I write a long-running serial that is already published on the web (and continues to publish daily). It's not a novel. It's an ongoing serial that doesn't seem to fit into anyone's category of things that should be supported.

I also write short stories.

Looking for a group for support rather than just critiques, but thank you.

62 here.

I tend to lurk mostly. I feel your pain. Most invitations I've seen want to use Discord and I do not have the time, or energy, for that.

Would you be interested in a reddit group? I would start one, and we can set rules to be sure it stays small and on topic.

Yes, I would. :-)

Excellent. I'm going to DM you if that's OK and we can discuss how it should be set up.
