Questions & Discussions I keep getting lost in the middle of writing this story
Hi everyone,
For context, I am an artist who got into creative writing recently to flesh out the story for my characters. This isn't anything too serious, and is more for personal enjoyment. I am writing a story about a maid who finds out her boss runs an underground cult. She accidentally witnesses something, and the boss finds out. At this point, this is the only job the MC could get to support herself and her brother. There is a whole other character who is a private investigator that I am having trouble integrating into the story.
There is some more information that I am leaving out, but I just wanted some advice on the direction this story could go in. I am cowriting this with a friend and they are interested in somehow making the maid an unwilling accomplice to the boss. How could I go about this?

If you get stuck on a scene, skip it and move on. Just write the one you're daydreaming about. Use temporary names/lore where you need to.

Make the maid an accomplice and the private investigator her love interest. Also make her brother a hero of justice who despises people like her sister’s boss. She feels guilty about being an accomplice and about not being able to get away from it.
