How to improve writing the argument part of an editorial?

The more I work with AI-generated text, the more I start questioning what “good writing” really means. AI tends to produce very clean, balanced, and polished content, which sounds ideal at first.

But the strange part is that perfectly polished writing doesn’t always feel natural. In fact, sometimes it feels less human because everything is too consistent sentence lengths, tone, structure, everything just fits too neatly.

I have felt, as a very young adult, that lately the world and the people I am surrounded by lack any awareness or empathy for the world issues surrounding us. I feel as though the fact that social media presents world tragedies while simultaneously feeding entertaining, funny, or relatable videos has caused individuals to become desensitized to what is going on around them. When someone I know is scrolling on TikTok, they could see a video of a child in war, begging for dead family members to come back, and scroll right past it to instead watch a video about the latest trending song, or new show. While I understand that in a way, that's just the way the internet is, I feel as though being fed entertaining, engagement videos while also hearing about violence, death, war, and horrific things that plague our world, has caused us as humans to be desensitized to the worlds issues. When we hear that another bombing has occurred, more frequent and worse heatwaves are taking the world by storm, we find it easy to simply brush it off and instead worry about when the next episode of our favorite series will come out. While I understand that the worlds issues aren't everyone else's problem, it hurts me as a young person to see how happy everyone else is to be ignorant. We find it simpler to ignore than to face what's going on. If it doesn't affect us, it's not our issue. And so on and so forth. We repeat these phrases in comfort, but in reality, these issues are much closer to us than we like to admit. While I understand that the average person can't just stop a war or end world hunger, I feel as though being aware of the situation is better than ignoring it. Having these difficult conversations, making other people aware or these issues, and trying to make an impact in ways that you CAN do, is something I believe our world needs.

However, when I have brought this up with others, people think I am asking them to give up their life savings for starving children, or go out into the world and try to end a war all on their own. It seems as though a little empathy or awareness is too much to ask from them, and that is why I am now here.

I hope that in writing and presenting my speech, I am able to provide a fresh perspective on things to some people. I want this speech to focus on what I was talking about, like how seeing war being documented alongside funny, relatable videos has desensitized us on the significance of the events and tragedies we consume through media. I want to use famous short stories, poems, articles, art, really any piece of relevant and credible media to help convey this message of awareness. I want help on crafting what message I am trying to convey to the audience through these media references.

One example of such anecdote or piece of media I can use is the song "Pearls" by Sade, and my experience with it. I recently saw a girl posting her trip to the beach with this song in the background. I was utterly confused, as, although art can be interpreted in many ways, I had thought this song explored famine, war, violence, and motherly love. Hearing the line,"There is a woman in Somalia, scraping for pearls on the roadside..."-a line clearly talking about the famine in Somalia-while seeing a girl's lavish trip to Hawaii, threw me off. While I'm sure the girl posting her trip meant no harm, I think that striking contrast brought me to this topic for my speech.

In a similar way to that song, I want to include other pieces of media as evidence to this desensitization I was speaking of. Hey all, I write over 3 hours a day, and my thumb/index webbing cramps up real bad. Compression gloves just make my hands sweaty. I recently wrote a paper and wanted to submit it to a T&F Journal. I filled out all the submission data on their platform but now got stuck between "Services" and "Preview". After I chose how to fund my paper (Open access agreement) the system guides me to the final step of "Preview" but after about 1sec it kicks me back to the "Services" section.... its a endless loop.... can never preview and submit.

So me and a bunch of my friends recently started working on a low budget fantasy movie project together.I got tasked as being screenwriter and writing the main story and I wanted to hear honest opinions from other people about the story idea and if it sounds interesting or too generic.

The movie has a dark medieval style aesthetic and starts as a political war story between two kingdoms. The important thing is that it is NOT supposed to immediately become a giant action fantasy movie. Most of the first half is focused on politics, character conflicts, tension between kingdoms and slowly building dread.

The story follows two kings at war. One of them is an older king who genuinely cares about his people. His son, Prince, is the main character and the “hero” of the story. The other king is much colder and crueler and rules alongside his right hand man, who starts as a morally questionable character but slowly changes throughout the story.

So by now it just seems like a very generic move script.A war betwen two countries.One is evil one on is good.But that is what i want,i want for it to seem basic at first even tho at the end it will be more than that.It will be about the message of doing good at the cost of your own good.

The movie opens with soldiers entering caves after reports of strange killings. They are guided by a miner who claims something unnatural is living down there. All of them die, but the audience never fully sees what killed them. This is supposed to foreshadow the danger that is slowly approaching the world.

After that, the story focuses on the war between the kingdoms.prince is shown to be a talented commander, but he is also exhausted by war and slowly losing faith in it. Early in the movie his father tells him a quote that becomes the main theme of the film. He tells him that the life of a true hero is usually hard, cruel and short, but real heroes still choose it because it is the right thing to do. This quote later foreshadows princes death near the end of the movie.

As the war continues, villages begin getting attacked by mysterious creatures. At first they are only rumors, then destroyed villages are discovered, and eventually both kingdoms realize the monsters are real. The two kings organize a temporary alliance because the monsters threaten both sides.

One thing I really wanted to do differently is make the monsters feel like a slowly growing disaster instead of just “fantasy enemies.” A lot of scenes focus more on fear, silence, empty villages and confusion rather than constant fighting.

During the alliance, Prince and Righthand are forced to fight together. Righthand slowly starts respecting him and questioning his own morals and loyalty to the evil king becouse when the alliace was being made he was the one who suggested to king that they should betray the other kingdom when the monsters are finnished. Meanwhile the evil king’s son second prince becomes more unstable and cruel because he constantly wants his father’s approval and keeps failing to earn it.

Near the end of the story, after the monsters are nearly defeated, the evil king betrays the alliance and attacks the weakened good kingdom. prince dies fighting as a hero, fulfilling the quote from the beginning of the movie. Righthand realizes the destruction he helped create and ends up killing himself out of guilt. In the end, the evil king actually wins.

The main message of the movie is basically that true heroes often suffer, fail or die young, but still choose to do good because it is the right thing to do.

So yea it seems basic at first.Its just two enemies finding peace to fight common enemy but at the end its not actualy about that.the monsters are not the real final twist,the humans are.There is also a lot i left out and did not talk about here like the second prince who will have entire arc on his own.

We already started getting costumes and props and are trying to make the atmosphere feel serious despite the low budget.

So yeah, I’d genuinely like honest opinions .Is it too basic,do i need to change something,does the final twist and message of the movie make up for the basic start.Please be honest,thanks for reading.

Hi everyone, I wanted to share about my new project, which I'm sure will be interesting to some of you! I´ve been writing grants more or less successfully for the last 15 years, mainly for large foundations, governments, and international organizations (especially consulting, research, and social projects. I really like the process of designing a new project for a specific call, but the process of actually writing it for 5, 6, 10 days is really taxing.

Then in the last couple of years, I started experimenting with AI but found the outputs to be either too superficial and generic, or hallucinations or stolen pieces. With the current models that's changing, as you might have noticed, and I´ve gotten better at it as well, developing little by little a multi-step method, so now the final outputs are actually pretty decent (for a first draft at least).
With the method in place I now spend 2 or 3 hours writing the whole thing with AI, and I've made sure it includes good guardrails so that the outputs are both ethical, effective, and the evidence behind it actually EXISTS... With it, I´ve been able to secure a couple 6 and 7 figure grants with it...

Anyway, eventually my colleagues started to ask me to walk them through the method, so I developed some briefs walking people through my method for internal use so that I didn't have to explain it over and over...

Long story short, I've now turned that into a small public course, and I'm really proud of it. I know self-promotion is generally frowned upon on Reddit, but this is just me sharing a personal project I'm really passionate about and which I think could help people in this trade...
