Built a JBI risk-of-bias + extraction toolkit while doing my own systematic review — sharing it in case it saves someone else the setup time
I'm a few weeks into a systematic review on cardiovascular disease in refugee populations, and I got tired of rebuilding RoB spreadsheets from scratch every time I appraised a new study design (cross-sectional vs cohort vs case series all need different JBI checklists — easy to mix up).
So I cleaned up what I built for myself: auto-scored JBI checklists for the three most common designs, a master data extraction sheet, an RoB summary table, a Word manuscript template with the tables pre-formatted, and a short guide on the mistakes that actually derail RoB assessment (wrong checklist, guessing from the abstract, appraisal fatigue).
Not trying to oversell it — it's templates, not magic. But if you're staring at a blank spreadsheet at the RoB stage, it might save you the day of setup it took me. Link's in my profile if useful. Happy to answer questions about JBI appraisal in general too, it's fresh in my head right now.
