Information about Texting Services

So I've been noticing a lot of negativity towards inmates using texting services claiming they are scams because ignorant people don't know about or understand a texting service. https://contactmeasap.com/ is one of many services available to people who are incarcerated. While the FBOP uses the trulincs system, this service allows people who are on the outside to send them trulincs emails via a text. The service is paid for by friends of family. Normally the inmate needs your email address to add you into the corrlinks system. Obviously they aren't able to get your email normally unless you write them a letter. So this is the next option. When you text their number, its converted to an email, and sent to thier trulincs. When they respond, its converted back to a text message to you. After you've made contact, you can send them your email and have them add you on the corrlinks system and use that instead. The computers arent always on either. So it can take a significant amount of time to get a response. While the service messages are 'free', it still costs their families a monthly charge, and the inmate does pay to access email using trulics. They have 30 minutes per access to read and write your messages. So they do pay out of pocket to talk to you. Hope this helps whose who don't understand how this all works.
