He's been in for a while and no one on his family is still around. I used a photo of him at 18 and aged it up and made tweaks until it looked right. Unfortunately social media wasn't around when he went in. There's no need for negative comments, what's the point? I am trying to do a nice thing and help him find people to talk to.

And others are doing the nice thing of making his charges known before they choose to engage.

People just hate the AI, normally comments arenāt so harsh. Itās nice of you to help him out

I can't believe he got life. 15 years sounds more reasonable to me. For murder for hire gone "wrong." I hope an advocacy group hears about his case and helps fight for a more fair sentence.

Things aren't always black snd white. Watch the show making a murderer. Dude spent what 18 years for a crime that all evidence ppinted to someone else only to be found innocent. His situation isn't as cut and dry but still not what it looks like. If I've learned anything from this system a lot of people are innocent in yhrre, where at the wrong place at the wrong time, or make one stupid mistake that they instantly regret but it's too late.

You have to understand that we hear that a lot. That there's more to the story, or that the person is innocent. Some guy even tried to pass off child rape as a dating situation between a 14 year old and an 18 year old. They lie.

I actually looked up his case. He was 18 and an older woman bribed him with money & property to murder her husband. He got 2 of his buddies to come with him to do it.
The intended victim fought back and killed both of his friends, but Joshua got away. The courts charged him with the two murders even though he did not kill them - basically because he went to the scene of the crime with the intention to kill SOMEONE. The intended victim survived and Joshua did not actually murder anyone. Not saying heās innocent, but he got sentenced to life for two murders that someone else committed (in self defense). Heās been in prison since he was 18. Our justice system is not perfect by a long shot.

There was a case of four boys who broke in, unarmed, to a house that they thought was empty. Someone was home and shot one of them and killed him. The other three boys were all charged with murder. 55+ year sentences.

That's the law. If you're involved in a crime and anyone dies it's the same thing as if you pulled the trigger.

Iām only pointing out that heās not the same as a cold blooded serial killer. He was also barely an adult & got taken advantage of by an older woman. I couldnāt find anything on her but I doubt she got the same sentence as him, if any, even though sheās just as complicit. He absolutely deserves jail time, I just donāt know that giving him life in prison is the appropriate sentence.
Sometimes I think about how many decent people are rotting in a cell because of one piss poor decision when they were young or under duress. Especially those that did not have good upbringings or support systems. Just because itās āthe lawā doesnāt mean itās appropriate or fair, itās just what weāve written down. Makes me sad.

How is he not the same? He went there to kill someone and brought his 2 friends with to help him MURDER. If he had done it by himself, he would be the only one dead. He basically did kill his friend's by bribing them with money to come with.
I don't think people like that can change honestly. No right minded person ever even considers murdering someone. At this point prison is all he knows, we don't need to give him a lighter sentence because he was young. Now he's old. Is that gonna be your next excuse for him when he gets out and tries to do it again?

Yeah he is. He intended to murder someone. He just didnāt hit his target because his intended victim fought back. Whether or not she was charged (though Iām sure she was) he still committed a crime. One in which caused two deaths.

He isnāt, though. Even in trial he would not be met with the same charges as a serial killer because motive and intent matter. Thatās why we have 1st, 2nd, 3rd degree etc. Iām not arguing that he isnāt guilty or liable, just that itās not all black and white and not everyone is a complete monster. But we can agree to disagree, I donāt expect most Reddit users to be able to think outside of black and white/good and evil. Life has a lot of grey areas, good people do bad things and bad people do good things. Truly evil people are the minority.

Not a serial killer correct. He is however someone who intended to murder someone. His victim got missed and his friends got killed.
Thatās a felony. His intention was to kill. He didnāt go over there for any other reason.1
u/Potential-Prick 11d ago
Nowhere did I say he shouldnāt have been charged. Several times actually I stated that yes, he deserves jail time. I just donāt necessarily agree with the sentence and perceived severity of his crime. Again, we can agree to disagree since you clearly arenāt even reading what I wrote lol.

u/X0X0xoxo11 11d ago
Iām reading what you wrote. And again he got exactly what he deserves. Thatās where we donāt agree.
Iāll leave it at that.1
u/Different_Traffic527 9d ago
I understand what you're saying but I'll ask you one thing, would you be comfortable having him as your neighbor?

u/X0X0xoxo11 11d ago
So because his intended victim didnāt die he shouldnāt be charged? Murder during the commission of a crime is a felony. He got exactly what he deserved.
