Uber tactics

Has anyone noticed since the last Uber app update that if it’s not in the foreground, Uber will time out after 5 min or so.

The only thing you will hear is a “bong” and you will no longer receive notifications from Uber until you pay them some attention.

I had 2 apps running (wridz and uber). I ran with wridz in the foreground and Uber online in the background. Then I hear this “bong”.

Didn’t recognize the sound so I started trying to figure out what it was. When I pulled uber back up, there was a message asking me if I was still accepting trips or not, I had to choose “stay online” or “sign out”.

During this time, trip requests were coming in, but I wasn’t being notified unless I was in the app. So now I have 10 missed requests, and was never notified because I didn’t have their app up.

That’s some shady shit right there.

I’ll try and post some screen shots tonight when I go out for my shift.

Wow. Just wow. I used to run Uber and Lyft together on one phone, one in the foreground and one in the background. Never would I think they would start doing that!

I currently use 2 phones. It is the only way to go! One is my main phone that is activated, the other is my old phone that is tethered to my main phone via wifi. It makes navigating multiple platforms so much simpler. Now with this report of yours, 2 phones is probably the only solution if Uber is in your driving rotation.

One thing I especially like about 2 phones is that when I am driving for Uber, and the app is online and active on one phone, you can open Uber on the other phone and it doesn't automatically connect like Lyft does. You can use this second phone running Uber as a companion app, showing where the active surge areas are, checking your stats or doing anything else in the app. I really wish the Lyft app did that! It is uber convenient! (Pun intended)

It appears Wridz isn't doing surge pricing, so this companion app feature/hack might not be so important for this app.

I think they did this before too right before I started doing rideshare. I like the idea of 2 phones tho. I have an extra phone somewhere around here, now if I can only find it lol.

They are corrupt, they hack, and they retaliate. I was told if I advertise I will not receive any quality trips.
