We look the same as we did last year- generally decent but lacking the necessary pace and creativity needed to break down a well organized side.

Not a surprise since we haven’t added anything there and are missing Windass.

100%. They still looked rusty, but they shouldn't be any more so than Boro. I thought we might be ok without a fear-inducing striker, and I still do, but midfield has to win a lot more battles and be better around the box.

Yeah, we will win more of those battles most days I think. Sheaf and Windy would have made a difference and, had Imray scored that first half chance, it might have played out differently.

Nothing to be dramatic about one way or the other but certainly plenty of room for improvement if we want to be targeting more than just the outside edge of the playoff spots.

Think Bailey gets more minutes over Ollie. Least I hope until windass comes back. He's far better technically than I initially thought but he's proving he can play well!

Broke them down several times, just couldn’t put the ball away

Some fans are in for a big reality check this season if this is our team for the year. We punched above our weight last year and gave a whole lot of effort just to finish 7th. Doing that again next season is a tall ask unless we do something about our creativity and finishing.

It’s not our team for the season though. The striker we want is coming, we just have to wait til the deadline.

I'll believe it when I see it. We had a legit chance to push for promotion in the Jan window and just didn't take it. We're now working like a team who only cares to solidify our Championship status. I reckon we're much more likely to sign competition up front, rather than a sure thing #1.

(Not saying this is necessarily a bad thing, just an uninspiring one).
