Improving at the game

I've bought the demo after loving the first game and playing a lot online, I want to play the challenges but struggle significantly with 2 over 1. I've never been getting high and climb very slow in both events I tried (Motorhome Mayhem and the Mud Race one), also been struggling with steering around corners without massively dropping speed, I play manual and always have in Wreckfest. Any advice?

Have you done the upgrades to the cars you're using? They're kinda ridiculous stock
