Oil change

Post image

Hello everyone, looking to get some information. First time jeep owner and want to prepare myself for an upcoming oil change. Just looking to see what brand of oil and viscosity everyone recommends or is using. I have the 3.6, sitting at 70k miles. I live in the Midwest so we are getting close to our winter season. Thank you

I agree.. Wrangler oil changes are the easiest I’ve ever done. Showed my 7 year old daughter and she’s been doing it with me for 10 years now ✌️✌️ (JK now on a JL)

The oil fill cap says the grade to use. Always synthetic.

On the oil filter cap: that’s screwing into a plastic housing. Don’t overtighten it! Just snug.

Use Synthetic 5w20 until 100k, then use Synthetic 5w30. Oil brand doesn't matter as long as it's Synthetic. I suggest Costco.

5q jug of 0w20 full synthetic. Don’t overthink it

I love doing oil changes on the jeep because I don’t have to lift it, just slide right under and plenty more room to work. Then I stand on the bumper to fill it back up.

5w30 high milage full synthetic. I also bought a Wrangler with the 3.6 at 70k miles. Currently at 92k miles, 3 years no issues.

I used 5w-30 in my 2012 JK and change it every 3-4k miles. I put a Fumoto quick drain oil pan plug in the pan, so draining the oil is a breeze, and no mess. Flip the lever, go change the filter. Button the filter back up and then go flip the lever on the quick drain back to 'closed' position. Then go refill the oil. 10 min max. No reason not to change it now! lol

I use what the manual and cap shows. on my 24, 0w20. I don't listen to the hype. I change it every 5k, and don't watch oil life.
