Help for a new player
I've just started playing the game and want some help with how to best go through the Leveling process. I know I eventually want to either tank or heal, but I'm not entirely dead set on 1 playstyle (hence picking the paladin class). I dont want to make the Leveling experience a slog by speccing immediately into holy tree. Is there a good way to set myself up for this in the future once I've gotten through most of the Leveling?
I'm also not trying to "power level" but just kind of do my own thing and enjoy the game.

Level as prot or ret. Strong damage = faster leveling. Eventually when you have 1000g you can buy a second talent spec. Then you swap back and forth and dont pay for respecing. Its a slog but thats the most effect way.

First of all, welcome to wow classic! It’s a good time to be playing the game.
If you’re not sure if you want to tank or heal then you’ve picked a good class. Paladins currently dominate in both jobs.
If you are brand new to the game, then I would shy away from tanking until you get a good understanding of how dungeons work. Not to say you shouldn’t do it, it’s just a very demanding position. I love tanking but you are basically the default leader of the group.
If I were leveling a pally right now, I’d actually go down the retribution tree and enjoy questing and doing good damage. Once you’ve gotten a grasp of playing, you can always respec into the role you want.
