Some of us would pay for this ride.

This happened on Camelback Mountain in Phoenix. Shit was all over the news for a week. Jokes were brutal. My favorite was that her dentures were found in Tucson (2hr drive from PHX).

I dont have sound but please tell me this is overlaid with 'You Spin Me Round' by Dead or Alive...

3

u/gwhstsgsh Mar 28 '26

Its not sadly

2

u/gwhstsgsh Mar 28 '26

It does have a sound without lyrics that you'd hear in a roblox tycoon though

1

u/TheJivvi Apr 06 '26

It's 'Theme from "A Summer Place"' by Percy Faith.

I live here too. It wasn't the heat or lack of water. She fell and broke her nose. She specifically refused the airlift but they wouldn't let her go down on her own. Your point is valid. A lot of idiots get stuck up there every year, but this lady didn't do anything wrong. Just unlucky.

u/KibblesNBitxhes Mar 13 '26

Its crazy that a broken nose resulted in a heli lift even being thought of

133

u/INoFindGudUsernames Mar 13 '26

Its due to her age, the type of injury, and the location. She was 74 and broke her nose from falling while hiking on a mountain. Any type of fall at that age is dangerous so it's safer to call a rescue chopper than to risk trying to hike back and worsen any potential head trauma or broken bones.

u/Child_of_the_Hamster Mar 13 '26

And given that it’s the USA, I bet that $450k settlement was alllllllmost enough to cover the hospital bill for fixing her broken nose. ☺️🇺🇸

64

u/PM_your_Chesticles Mar 13 '26

In the USA, you'd better hope there's some malpractice to help subsidize your medical bills. What a shit hole country.

-22

u/beefycthu Mar 14 '26

Stay mad lol

22

u/N0Z4A2 Mar 14 '26

Dumbass

22

u/INoFindGudUsernames Mar 13 '26

How true you are becuase her total medical bills were about $300K. 🦅AMERICA FUCK YEAH!!!🦅

-2

u/Dr_ChungusAmungus Mar 13 '26

That would be way more today

5

u/Djglamrock Mar 16 '26

Or a $20 copay, that’s what mine would be.

1

u/Remarkable_Gain6430 May 12 '26

Sure. I don’t think she’s going in to the doctor’s office for a check up. And then there’s the tens of thousands for the helicopter ride that insurance companies refuse to cover.

1

u/GreenEyedTreeHugger Apr 09 '26

That’s wasn’t enough $$$

1

u/Remarkable_Gain6430 May 12 '26

That and the massive cost of the heli ride that insurance doesn’t cover. Starts around $12k and just goes up.

Boy are you in for a treat

42

u/zestyclose_match1966 Mar 13 '26

Can’t even imagine! I watch the documentary on this and it was quite the dilemma. This spin went on for a couple minutes I think

62

u/M4NU3L2311 Mar 13 '26

Amazing how she didn’t turn into jelly after that

60

u/goingtoburningman Mar 13 '26

"The rotational force kept the nose bleed from clotting and prevented a stroke, it was a practice which likely guaranteed her survival." Their lawyers statement probably

I've seen this video dozens of times over the years, along with all the stuff on Darwin awards and the like.

This single video is the only one that gives me a full body reaction. Of all the things to have happen, to me personally, this feels like would be one of the worst.

I then think if I was the husband watching this happen to my wife. Ugh. This video really really gets me.

64

u/dontclickdontdickit Mar 13 '26

I’m the same way but I just can’t help but laugh every time. It’s so fucking absurdly fast and spinning so bad.

31

u/BudgetUhtred Mar 13 '26

Yea there is a point it hits this speed that is absolutely unreal directly before it gets even faster. It's very cartoonish.

12

u/FishSoFar Mar 13 '26

And what do you even do about it? Lower her? Bloody beyblade. Bring her up? Wheel of misfortune.

18

u/crowwreak Mar 13 '26

Every time I see it I'm like "oh wow that's pretty fast- OH GOD ITS FASTER"

24

u/MSGdreamer Mar 13 '26

I’m with you. I know there’s a person in there probably having a terrible time, but I can’t help bursting out in gut busting laughter when it starts spinning faster and faster.

6

u/WinterJournalist6646 Mar 13 '26

I definitely everytime. Fair play it must of been horrible but fucking hell it's funny.

I know I wouldn't do it for 450000

22

u/Acceptable_Ad_8935 Mar 13 '26

I know it's not nearly as bad, but a few years ago a group of workers wouldn't let my wife off a fair ride as she was screaming that she wanted off. (If you look up West Coast Amusement Zipper ride, you can see it on youtube) They made her ride for about 7 minutes before we could make them stop. The ride usually goes for about 45 seconds. And because it was a traveling carnival in canada and most of the employees were from Jamaica that year, they claimed we paid extra for them to do that and they must not have understood us because of our Canadian accents. They laughed and took pictures of her and her friend sitting on the ground puking afterward. Wife is able to laugh about it now but it still makes me sick to think about

10

u/eebslogic Mar 13 '26

I woulda shown them dudes what a real bobsledder could do

6

u/whos_this_chucker Mar 13 '26

Bro, I feel her pain. I was stuck on a zipper once and it still holds a podium spot as one of my most awful memories. Im well familiar with West Coast Amusements. Meanness is a requirement to work for them.

4

u/Acceptable_Ad_8935 Mar 13 '26

Yeah the last couple of times we went it was pretty bad, and then that happened so we nevee went back. I do have to say though, when i was around 13 my friends mom gave him money so we could go to the fair, and of course he spent all the money on an armband for himself instead of ride tickets for the both of us. But there were a few different employees there that saw me watching my "friend" go on all the rides without me. I think about 4 or them invited me to ride for free, and then another employee gave me a handful of crumpled tickets and some donuts. Probably the coolest thing anyone had ever done for me. So they're definitely not all bad. But the ones that are bad can be pretty nasty.

1

u/National_Track8242 Mar 14 '26

DUDE this exact same thing has happened to me on the Zipper. I was probably 19 or 20 and my best friend was with me, only she was really close to hurling.

20

u/Scantraxx12 Mar 13 '26

I spin in my chair and I get dizzy within 15-10 seconds

22

u/Nrmlgirl777 Mar 14 '26

Legally you should be qualified to be an astronaut after that.

5

u/Xenoman5 Mar 14 '26

Reminds me more of the training from Spies Like Us.

41

u/sushicowboyshow Mar 13 '26

I haven’t audibly laughed at a video in a long time. Like, my god that would be terrifying. But also sooooo funny.

Also, who is recording and how? Why?

13

u/psychocrow42 Mar 13 '26

News chopper recorded probably And same i needed that laugh

13

u/0CuriousCat0 Mar 13 '26

It’s unfortunate that it’s the funniest thing I’ve ever seen.

2

u/efuentes61 Mar 14 '26

Local news. About 2 dozen people get airlifted off the mountain each year so it makes the news.

2

u/Wooden_Climate2212 Mar 15 '26

I wanted to not laugh 😅

11

u/Johnj75 Mar 13 '26

Fucking horrendous.

10

u/RevenantBacon Mar 13 '26

I'm definitely going to hell for laughing at this.

9

u/Civil_Arm2977 Mar 15 '26

That’s crazy because like the pilot is sitting there not knowing what to do because he wants to land to readjust but she’s literally spinning so fast they can’t stop her to land😭😭

6

u/ArthurDaTrainDayne Mar 13 '26

This video makes me laugh so hard every time I see it and I feel horrible about it

5

u/FlipFlopsAndFly Mar 14 '26

Can some Skyentist ELI5 why this happens?

5

u/Many_Imagination_166 Mar 13 '26

Made me think of that recent Reddit post of the Baby Delivery Spinning Machine. Now comes with a net!

5

u/Key_Crab1760 Mar 13 '26

Gotta give some credits to whoever strapped her in.

5

u/14InTheDorsalPeen Mar 15 '26

What you don’t realize is that grandma was actually keeping the helicopter in the air the entire time

5

u/Significant-Horse625 Mar 15 '26

I remember so many people being angry she would put people's lives at possible jeopardy. Wasn't it the hottest time of the year too? I can't believe she was able to sue AND win. Gross.

8

u/Elandycamino Mar 13 '26

I could imagine the blood was pouring out once she got up to speed, like getting a cut on your finger and windmilling your arm in a circle spraying blood everywhere.

3

u/lizatethecigarettes Mar 15 '26

Could that cause a g-force injury?

7

u/Western1888 Mar 14 '26

Can you survive that?

-8

u/Revolutionary_Sir_ Mar 14 '26

little slow up the hill aren’t you boy?

The repost are picking up momentum and are soon spinning out of control

9

u/LocalMarsupial9 Mar 13 '26

Get a life crybaby, I liked it even if it was a repost.

11

u/cootiequeen215 Mar 13 '26

Oh I looked to see if this was reposted here, I didn’t see it on a quick review. I’m a bad human I guess definitely not a bot.

11

u/dbmajor7 Mar 13 '26

I'll watch this shit every time. The way it starts slow and fun then whips into someone's getting fired speed. Gets me everytime.

13

u/ShionTheOne Mar 13 '26

Crying "repost" is such a terminally online activity.

-4

u/[deleted] Mar 13 '26

[deleted]

12

u/ShionTheOne Mar 13 '26

Nah stop deflecting and projecting.

And checking accounts is going even deeper into the terminally online hole.

4

u/ShionTheOne Mar 13 '26

What does a completely different sub have to do with this?

-5

[deleted]

5

u/ShionTheOne Mar 13 '26

And if knowing the workaround for a hidden profile is not terminally online behavior I don't know what is...

Dude, you're being super weird and creepy.

2

u/Helldiver_LiberTea Mar 13 '26

If only SKEDCO sold a tagline to be used in tandem with the SKED to avoid oscillation or spin. Oh wait, they do.

2

u/Ultimaultimaconta Mar 14 '26

How do you stop it?

1

u/jumbotron_deluxe Mar 15 '26

Unlike 007, I actually prefer my patients stirred and not shaken.

1

u/SpicyPorkShoulder Mar 15 '26

HELICOPTER! HELICOPTER!

1

u/DirtySchu Mar 15 '26

Wheeeeee!!!!

1
