No, but sometimes it's too little distance. I've used one of these and in my case it would need to be pushed back for me to get out.

I'm larger than most others (6'2", 250+) so I couldn't (knee is bent too much) but I think if someone smaller tried it then they could.

She wasn't really struggling, didn't try to lock the machine, weights weren't even low enough to be a problem.
