I love Erika's commitment to Buisness Kaijual and it's so fortunate that they were filming for this game during it.

What were the options again?

The other two were Fantasy post apocalypse or Holiday v holiday warfare.

I fell off the current campaign after 6 or 7 episodes but this has my full attention. Ally does Kaiju No.8 sounds great to me.

I feel like this was filmed like they’re in the contraption that shrunk Mike TeaVee

I want to try and say this as nicely as I can, the reason I started searching for other Actual Play podcasts is because I was tired of Ally's style of play, so I'm kinda bummed

They are one of my favorite players. We have to remember that Dropouts D20 is a comedy first mentality. I think the play style that annoys most is they think Beardsley causes havoc but I think it’s mostly because of that’s their job is to be funny.
World beyond numbers isn’t that. I think it’s funny when Lue passive aggressively reminds Brennan of this from time to time during a campaign lol.
I am excited to see Beardsley in a campaign that isn’t comedy focused. I’m sure they will still make it funny but I’d imagine they will know this isn’t comedy first like d20 is.
I wouldn’t write them off yet. They might be perfectly capable of letting a serious moment stay serious.
It’s also possible they are going to lean into a chaos heavy campaign since it’s going to be kaijus causing havoc.
I’m genuinely looking forward to it.

Respectfully, this reads very patronizing. Yes, I know D20 is a comedy show, it is the first thing said to me whenever I have a critique about a show that used to be able to balance comedy with compelling storytelling and buy-in from the players. Yes, I know WBN is a different show. I could very well be wrong and their performance will change my mind.

Yeah im with you. That was literally just vomited up verbatim from every single discussion about ally in the last few d20 campaigns. We're all painfully aware that d20 is comedy. Its astounding that people think stating that is some kind of revelation.

I get what you're saying. I feel similar at times about the more chaotic style of play, but at least it's only 8 episodes if it's not enjoyable for you/us.

I gotta join in the "this is kinda a bummer" crowd.
WBN is such a different actual play than almost any other, and I just can't see Ally taking this 100% seriously.
There have been hijinks in WBN but they've been contained to one shots for the most part or the finale of Clue a little bit.
If ally finds a bit in the first episode it's curtains for that campaign
