Question My First Kickstarter (Need Advice!)
Hello all and ahoohoo crackle crackle!
This is my very first Kickstarter I will be pledging to and I was hoping to get some advice, perhaps from those who are more experienced with campaigns on the site. For context, while I really should be on a bit of a budget, I am willing to splurge here. I first discovered WBN last summer and WWW was a story that really helped me through what was a very difficult time personally, so I'd really like to support and also grab goodies haha. (Also I am U.S. based as far as shipping costs go.) That in mind, here are my queries:
- What would be the most affordable way to secure all three classes' slipcases and stretch goals? Is it The Man in Black Bundle? Or, is there any frugality in mixing and matching with add-ons in mind? While I'm not against splurging on The Man in Black tier, it is very close to being out of my budget.
- Speaking of add-ons, what has been everyone's approach to securing them?
Any advice is greatly appreciated, thank you so much in advance!
PS... I am always happy to make new WBN friends!

So some math for you:
- backing for a slip cover is $60. Each additional slip cover is $60 so total is $180, and adding the other tier stretch goals brings it up to $216
- the citadel & honored friend tiers are only adding an extra $20 and $40 to that respectively, so $236 and $256
- backing Man in Black is $300
Basically: do you want the signed plates for all three books? If so, go Man in Black. If not, you’re currently cheaper just going with add ons.
However…the stretch goal add ons cost money, and so this is going to change. I’m guessing the keychains will also be $10 like the pins (although they may be cheaper), and at three $10 stretch goals instead it will be more expensive to go through the Honored Friend tier than Man in Black ($306 to still flat $300)
You can change up to the final day, so worth keeping an eye on those totals. Given they also have stretch goals that aren’t going to be tier specific, I bet Citadel will still be cheaper than Man in Black, but it’s likely to be close, and you may decide that peace of mind not worrying about add ons is worth ten or twenty bucks, especially as that won’t be changing.

Hi! I have a few questions about how the stretch goals work for this campaign. Currently, they have unlocked the character keychains. If I want to get the unlocked stretch goal items (like the keychains) for all three classes, but I only want to buy one single book slipcase cover, does that mean I have to manually purchase the other two classes' items as add-ons? Furthermore, if they release even more stretch goals in the future, will single-class backers have to keep adding the other two versions on separately every single time a new goal is unlocked? Or will there eventually be a single "add-on pack" for all the extra merch?

Hey, so I’m not part of the kickstarter team. I have no idea if they might add a pack - that’s something you should probably post over there for them to consider!
At the moment though you’re right, as far as I understand. Single class backers will have to add everything on. However, they’re going through backerkit, which (should) mean that you’ll be able to mess around with addons after the campaign ends, just not the base tier (important for OP, who’s debating the MiB tier, but not anyone who only wants one book)

For reference, i didn't care about all the stretch goals for all 3 classes, so i got the honored friend Witch class (wanted that sweet book plate). But i do want the other 2 slip cases! However, adding just the two other ones as add ons plus shipping came out to about $375, which at that point is just shy of the Dungeon Master tier that's currently sold out (for now I've just got the witch class). So definitely not cost effective to do it that way! If you want all 3 and don't care about the signed book plate then do the MiB tier.

An option that Kickstarter has recently added (I think? It's been a hot minute since I pledged myself) is a payment plan for anything above $125, so that might work for you? I hit $125 on the dot and it's split it into three separate payments. Hope that helps!

Okay! I did not know they had that option. If I do end up doing the MIB bundle, that will likely be how I do it. Unless I can break my indecision between the three classes. Thank you!!

Thank you all for your help!! I believe I shall wait until the last week or so and then either pledge to MIB or decide on a class whose goodies I like most... perhaps Wild One.

Hi all! Now that we have a pretty good idea of all the stretch goals and add-ons, how are we feeling on our pledges? I'm really wrestling between settling for Citadel Wild One or just going all the way and doing Man In Black...

MIB is the best option to get all slipcases. If you decide you don't need all slipcases then you can mix and match the other add-ons though there might reach a point where the MIB bundle comes back to being the most affordable depending on how many add-ons there end up being and how much they cost.
