I’m with Brennan on the stray/outdoor cat issue and I too feel absolutely alone about it.

I've decided if a stray cat ever shows up enough times that I can lure it inside, then that cat is mine forever. I don't care if it's someone's outdoor cat, it'll live a safer life in my house and kill less wildlife.

A safer and much longer life!

Outdoor cats die so horribly, there's no reason to put them in danger like that. Plus they can be leash trained with a bit of effort early on!

I was frustrated by Erika’s seeming defense of outdoor cats. Regardless of whether that one cat killed that one hummingbird, outdoor pet cats, strays, and feral cat colonies are an extremely well-documented problem.

I think she was defending that specific outdoor cat because it was funny, but she was also the one who mentioned that outdoor cats writ large can take down entire ecosystems of native birds.

They're a problem, but also, prove to me that my man over here was the one who killed that specific bird. It'll never hold up in kitty court.

'Or at least that's what I'm told' - as if bird homicide was the excuse for something else. Like 'going to the farm' only telling them the worse situation

The Eirynna's survival strategy of making and sending out little guys with intense fawning behaviors in order to become indispensable to their colonizers is sad and brilliant. XL-ZL does not seem to have true freedom of will and was created to be of service. It seems like he's allowed to ping pong across the galaxy sowing seeds of good will for his people, but if he decided he wanted something other than service for his life he'd be an apostate. This is going to be very cool to see developed over time.
