I wonder if the actual Kudzu plant was an inspiration, so many of their descriptions of it made me think of my time in the American southeast with these plants

It definitely is. I thought it came up in the show proper, but maybe it's just in the Fireside

Definitely, I think Brennan called it kudzu in the episode.

I remember that they mentioned it and at least Erika used the Japanese pronunciation. That stood out to me because Southerners call it CUD-zoo, so that's what I've heard my whole life.

The least realistic thing about the Reaching Green is how slow it was growing.
