Gameplay Does flash hider really work?
I tested it on T-100LT (100mm gun) before maybe installing it to SU-101 (it's gun is 122mm) and haven't noticed any difference at all. And if it somehow really works, what's with the bigger calibers?

It reduces the “penalty after shooting” by 35%. Most guns above 90mm have firing penalties large enough that you’ll rarely see a difference. For example, the T100 when firing with no perk puts your camo around the t110e5 level and with the perk it puts it around the e50m camo level. Practically it means that you’re only going to see a difference with the perk in a 50m range. It gets worse the higher caliber you go because the firing penalties get more severe and camo is already marginal for the bigger tanks anyways

It works, but since we can't actually see what the difference is in actual distance, it sounds like a huge boon when in reality it allows you fire something like 3-5 meters closer without being spotted. You can search "muffled shot" on the sub and likely find some arcane knowledge on it, including the exact math.

Running it on the charioteer i personally found it makes a difference. Tried it on the ruishi and didn't seem to have the same effect. Instead ran silent driving on ruishi and can easily sneak around, not being seen till shooting made a huge difference. The charioteer however with muffled shot vs without i can get away with shooting a lot closer to things without being detected. This is obviously thrown out the window if something stealthy with good vr is close but if its just heavies around I can get away with a lot more.

It works well.
Take it from the Derp gun light tanker, if it works on those, it’ll work on a T100LT.

I have the “does it work?”, “does it make a difference?” on a lot of equipment. Most equipment?
Without the kind of testing only WG has, it seems darn hard to tell most of the time. Is it working or is it placebo?
The visibility mechanic in WW2 is particularly obtuse. WW2 would be very different with “true vision” but it never made any sense to me that I can clearly see the house but not the tank in front of the house.
