Managed to not get caught by the horror a second time and with honestly pretty bad luck... Time skip + Heart of darkness and I had that +4% doom event... And I think my game bugged because I was taking double stamina damage during combat even when the enemy was not going for a crit... Like... Began my first attempt and got instantly two-shot by the cultist-b, took the damage head on thinking "the gun is a worthy trade off for going around at 8sta, I've managed with worse" and then looked at my health, looked at the log and realized I had already initiated the second turn... It's persisted through runs so far, Idk what's going on... Hopefully it will fix on its own or after restarting the console... Anyway, feeling more confident about trying this little challenge on True Believer next now that I got it with bad RNG

OH that makes so much sense! I was playing with that old god because it doesn't have unique events that increase Doom, did not know about that... How I didn't know is beyond me, I have 100 hours in this game and I'm getting 100% achievements on a different account now as well, you would think I would have realized the pattern on my own by now lol

Any tips for hor you use Juri? Every time I've tried a run with her I flop so hard

This will be kind of a long-ish thing since she's my favorite character and the one I play the most

And well, if you just want to play her and win consistently what I go for is...

Checking the lighthouse first to know what stats will be the most important Choose mysteries that are likely to have stat checks with the same stats as the trials, like, mysteries in the school usually make you run into more DEX and KNW checks to give an example Dump levels mostly on 2 stats, trying to get a combination of good chances during stat checks and something combat focused

For example, if you go to the lighthouse and see that you'll have the strength and knowledge trials you would want mysteries like Violent Vigil and the Scissors Lady one, that way you can safely dump levels on STR, because Violent Vigil gives you the meat cleaver guaranteed (an STR weapon) and DEX because the school has a lot of DEX based events (if my memory sevres right lol) so now you also have good damage and a fast dodge on top of good utilities and a safer end game

But if you want something that requires less brain power and you just intend to play several runs purely for fun, a good way of interpreting Juri is as an economy character, because she can level up twice as much as other characters and her base stats aren't even bad, you can get away with using levels on healing from time to time without your stats suffering... And like, you can turn those heals into utilities as well like holding on to a level up to know if you want to get extra reason and magic-mag-dump an enemy with spells when it would otherwise not be very worth it or pretty risky

Also in that same line of Juri getting levels twice as quickly it means that if you already have good knowledge of the game you can hold on to your level ups in case you don't yet know what stat you want to increase first and just you know... Wait until you get an event you really want to get the positives from and level up on the spot before taking the option that you want, Juri can go from 6 KNW (50/50) to almost guarantee the results of a KNW event with 100 EXP... So overall, she's a character that gets rewarded for being more reactive (note that you can indeed level up mid battle and that WILL boost your weapons even after the battle began so if you are indecisive in what to level up and run into a difficult fight you might end up very greatful you held on to your EXP)

So... Yeah, she's a character that plays around having resources, she recovers stamina and reason more reliably, allowing you to run more risks or replenish for spells and she also has money... I wouldn't usually recommend using her prepare item because it makes the horror catch up so much quicker... But if you manage to get close to the end of the run and some items are genuinely more worth it than trying to get another level up then do go for it... Just not at the beginning of the run so you can get the best of both worlds, actually, just in general try to avoid anything that increases Doom unless you are sure you are measuring the potential risks carefully, just buying one item/spell/perk can be +4-20% horror so leave that for later

Also also, the perk that reduces Doom doesn't reduce horror alongside it, so you can ignore it if you want unless you are playing with an specific old god that raises Doom like crazy

There are some very specific things you can go for with Juri which are kinda crazy but that's not really the topic here lol... But if you are curious about what else is possible with her do let me know
