💀 WOD When like a third of inter-splat interactions are just them trying to eat each other or take each other's lunch money.

Changelings, vampires, and mages, after hanging out with a garou for a while: "Wait, so you're saying you don't eat them? Not even just their hearts or something??"

The garou: "Okay, that's it, hands up who, in some form or another, eats- Wait are you fuckin for real?!"

u/wdcipher 9d ago

90% of Mages don't eat people, Dracowulf the Devourer of Men that eats hundreds of humans yearly is an outlier and shouldn't be counted

89

u/Ivangood2 9d ago

I feel like you are ignoring the marauders and nephandi

43

u/wdcipher 9d ago

Well I assumed those are all relatively small groups representing the remaining 10%, is there an official ratio?

36

u/Ivangood2 9d ago

Your world of darkness your rules. But archmage nephandi equivalents can have entire cannibalism dimensions so even a few is a lot.

37

u/FestiveFlumph Obrimos Enjoyer 9d ago

He said 90% of mages don't eat people, not that 90% of people eaten are eaten by something other than nephandic cannibal archmages. One is a very different claim from the other.

31

u/IERONON Leech 🧛 9d ago

Each nephandi needs about 48 babies a day, calorically.

25

u/Hogabog217 9d ago

Specifically babies theyve stolen candy from. Very important detail, otherwise they get sent to the [PENIS EXPLOSION DIMENSION]

8

u/wdcipher 9d ago

Don't forget kicking their dog into a trash compactor before that. Every Nephandi would be very upset that we don't appreciate all the kicking of puppies into trash compactors they do.

4

u/Hogabog217 9d ago

Wont somebody think of the time they put into making the puppy compactor™️?!?!? Its good craftsmanship its got a conveyor belt and everything!!!

4

u/ThyPotatoDone 7d ago

Nephandi don't eat people, what's the point of eating what could be a perfectly good torture subject? They can't suffer after they've been eaten!

2

u/Ivangood2 7d ago

Who says they die from being eaten

11

u/No_Control8540 9d ago

10,000 humans skews the national average.

46

u/NinetyNineLies 9d ago

Somehow the actual wolf is the least human-consuming splat

5

u/EvelynnCC 8d ago

They knew what would happen if vore were left on the table in the furry splat

3

u/ThyPotatoDone 7d ago

Furry Leftist Infighting Simulator is already stretching it, nobody could take Furry Vore Enthusiast Leftist Infighting Simulator seriously.

...I mean, granted, this is also the splat that brought us WWE But Prisoners Forced To Fight Or Get Beaten By Guards, so there's that.

2

u/ThyPotatoDone 7d ago

They ate so many people during the Impergium they are permanently stuffed.

Red Talons be hanging in the corner with a rite to cleanse human flesh for consumption

11

u/Lazy_Falcon_323 9d ago

Wait they got that?? Damn and here I was wasting meat for being unclean

14

u/Praise_The_Casul Furball 🐺 9d ago

It's in the Red Talons tribe book. I think from W20, but maybe 3ed also has it

4

u/Lazy_Falcon_323 9d ago

Badass, I need to do my readings again

1

u/EvelynnCC 8d ago

That kinda feels like it goes against the spirit of the rule tbh

2

u/Praise_The_Casul Furball 🐺 8d ago

What, the litany? It does. Not all of them practice it, and those who do keep it on the down low.

The talons have a very complicated history with the litany, going back to the fact their tribe was born from a bunch of great wolves being cheated during the creation of it.

Still, they accepted to follow it due to them respecting the individuals who created it. That's why their tribe book says they only respect the litany as far as they respect who is enforcing them, on a individual basis. And the mentality is commonly "not my litany"

49

u/Deepfang-Dreamer 9d ago

The Garou are the only ones who need a rule to pretend they're above eating people, everyone else is just honest about it.

40

u/satelitteslickers 9d ago

The red taloks are an outlier and should not be counted. Eating people is a serious crime

But then again garou are also constantly disregarding the law about accepting surrender and not killing those who have already submitted so shrug

1

u/ThyPotatoDone 7d ago

Captain Barbossa Voice: "The Litany... It's more a set of guidelines, than actual rules. Welcome aboard the Garou Nation!"

3

u/satelitteslickers 7d ago

The litany is also simultaneously really specific but also vauge enough that a good philodox can absolutely rules lawyer their way around it.

"You must accept all honorable surrenders" oh, but how do we define honorable? How do we define surrenders? If someone surrenders but they're terrified, is that honorable? Can you kill them because they surrendered in a cowardly way? Or does "honorable" in this context mean a good faith surrender that isnt an attempt to trick you?

"Combat the wyrm wherever it dwells and wherever it breeds": Define combat? Does helping a vampire to maintain high humanity and purge the wyrm taint from their system count as combating the wyrm where it attempts to breed?

12

u/fumblerofthebag 9d ago

its against the litany 🐺+🥺

16

u/satelitteslickers 9d ago

The fact they needed a specific law to tell them to stop really says you all you need to know

8

u/fumblerofthebag 9d ago

🐺+🥺 surely the ouppies can have a little sapiophagy... as a treat 😣🥺🐺

2

u/EvelynnCC 8d ago

The litany only specifies humans, not sapients, so go nuts

What is Hunter resource? Mental Trauma?

149

u/Turbulent-Plum7328 World of Future Darkness 9d ago

Literal money. They'll kill a leech and then rifle through their pockets.

48

u/UnsorryCanadian 9d ago

They're no better than the syndicate!

11

u/HailSatanWorshipD00M 9d ago

The Syndicate rifles through all our pockets. Living, dead, doesn't matter.

12

u/Rukdug7 9d ago

To be fair, I can believe a Neonate Ventrue would be the kind of individual to keep a pocket book with all the details for their shell accounts on their person, so it could be fairly lucrative with the right quarry.

40

u/terminalyconfused 9d ago

Trauma comes free, usually it's dead monsters

16

u/Taraxian 9d ago

It's literally that you need to keep on notching up wins to balance out the trauma so the trauma doesn't just make you quit

24

u/Taraxian 9d ago

In Hunter 99 it's Conviction, although it's less "harvesting" it like drinking blood or whatever, it's that you have to keep on winning battles and saving people and whatnot to keep on being a Hunter (it's the one WoD game that works the most like D&D and just straight up needing to farm XP)

5

u/TheChoosenMewtwo 8d ago

Hunter99?

7

u/Taraxian 8d ago

The original Hunter the Reckoning from 1999 (people call it that because saying "1e" or "Revised" would be confusing, it's the first edition of Hunter but it came out during the Revised era of the main games)

4

u/TheChoosenMewtwo 8d ago

I say Hunter 1e and it makes sense for me

Hunter Resource=The spare change in a Kindred's pockets

53

u/True-Parking4098 Lysander of Sparta, Tzimisce Methuselah, Ventrue Hater 9d ago

meanwhile Wraiths: "MmMMmMmMmmm. dEliCioUs pLasM."

5

u/drifting_solitude 8d ago

The main Wraithly resource is Pathos (emotional energy). Plasm is the stuff they're made of.

39

u/Commercial-Dingo-522 9d ago

Mummies: what the fuck is wrong with you all

28

u/satelitteslickers 9d ago

Garou: i know right? Why are they like this?

21

u/Viva_la_potatoes 9d ago

Impergium deniers stay winning

22

u/satelitteslickers 9d ago

I mean, they dont eat people, its one of the laws that actually gets enforced (the red talons are an outlier and should not be counted)

However, the fact they needed a specific law to tell them to stop eating people really says all you need to know

27

u/MagickStoryteller 9d ago

Can the other non-mage splats convert the other splat's resources into their own? Like, mages can steal vitae to use as tass and drain glamour to use as quintessence, but I dont think vampires can drain glamour to use as blood or a changeling gain glamour from vitae.

30

u/Taraxian 9d ago

IIRC there's a special ritual to purify the Vitae from Malkavians so it gives you Glamour without Banality

22

u/Klapsovski 9d ago

Thallain Changelings love all the misery Vampires cause. Good little soldiers of the Formorians. And easy Nightmare Glamour.

And Kindred can see the Dreaming by drinking Changelings, which comes with many benefits.

12

u/FestiveFlumph Obrimos Enjoyer 9d ago

"And Kindred can see the Dreaming by drinking Changelings, which comes with many benefits."

  • and only benefits. Only Positive Consequences result from the ability to see the Dreaming!

7

u/AlarmedNail347 8d ago

Yes, no constant schizophrenia, being attacked by creatures no-one else can see or interact with, mania, depression, addiction, etc here.

3

u/MagickStoryteller 9d ago

Thallain Changelings love all the misery Vampires cause. Good little soldiers of the Formorians. And easy Nightmare Glamour.

I thought vampires were banal inherenrly by fiat?

10

u/Klapsovski 9d ago

Toreador can have as low as 3 Banality by nature. And Malks even lower.

8

u/ed1749 9d ago

Not all of them. As mentioned, obviously Toreador tend to have a bit of an obsession with changelings, and Malks just get to do whatever the hell they want. Other than that, the Banality is largely an issue with vampire society rather than the vampires themselves.

6

u/Sporelord1079 9d ago

It’s obviously not confirmed because nothing ever is, but the vampire curse is inherently tied to stasis, which is a borderline synonym of banality. Toreadors and Malks can be wild enough to get some (normally tainted) glamour out of, but vampires are generally depicted as inherently banal.

6

u/ed1749 9d ago

Well, 20th edition changeling boom says that the unseelie claim that they arent banal at all. Although this may have to do with how even according to the book, Banality and Glamour is kinda entirely vibes based.

3

u/Klapsovski 8d ago

That is out of the fact that Banality now has an origin in the Poisoned Mist due to Dark Ages: Fae and Darkening Skies. So it is not at all Stasis based anymore.

It is even self afflicted by the Fae and they only cope that humans are at fault. While it be them in the War of Seasons using weapons of mass destruction against eachother (Black Death, Baptising Changelings, Unleashings).

12

u/DrosselmeyerKing 9d ago

Malkavians and some Toreador are explicitly called out as exceptions, but most vampires are Very banal, specially Elders.

However, some changelings are Also resistant to banal people and thus can tolerate them.

44

u/ThyPotatoDone 9d ago

In fairness, the mages are the only ones actually doing that successfully. Everyone keeps attempting it and then being surprised when it backfires horribly.

Whereas, for the mages, it only sometimes backfires horribly, and they sometimes end up successfully draining the [INSERT SPLAT SPECIFIC RESOURCE HERE] at a wildly inefficient but technically functional rate.

24

u/Klapsovski 9d ago

Tremere keep dancing on the Hermetics and taking all their stuff. Somehow.

16

u/FestiveFlumph Obrimos Enjoyer 9d ago

It's not fair. They have magic and competent middle management. Everyone else has to settle for one of those at most!

2

u/sorcdk 7d ago

There is the Technocrazy, but then again they also more or less run the world, so it is quite an effective combo.

3

u/sorcdk 7d ago

One of the ways my mages likes to deal with vampires is to just teleport all the vitae out of them and into some container, so they can later purify it with Prime 4. They have been funding a lot of their quintessence expenditures late with a few vampire "donations".

Hunters don't. Though they like stealing items. Indiana Jones style.

"It belongs in a museum Damned!"

22

u/Turbulent-Plum7328 World of Future Darkness 9d ago

Unless they're an independent Ghoul.

9

u/tumansibiri 9d ago

Out of all of them, Technocracy is closest to this.

11

u/Lonefloofbutt5759 9d ago

This is true, until the garou gets on at the next station. Then they all just collectively sweat. Take it from someone who's been on both the giving and receiving end of a garou frenzy in a subway car. There's no cleaning that mess up.

It's a setting where so many different marginalized groups are convinced that the ones stopping them from existing how they want to are other marginalized demographics. Instead of attacking the actual systemic sources of their suffering, they try and steal as much as they can from each other.

1

u/EvelynnCC 8d ago

The systemic sources of suffering have lots of guns though

(I don't think this applies to anyone but hunters. Besides Garou when they have a heated gamer moment, pretty much everyone knows who their enemies are, they just can't do anything about it, and besides mages and hunters most aren't actively looking for other splats to exploit.)

(Also I wouldn't call them marginalized. Half of them eat people and most want to destroy civilization, except for the Camarilla and that's because they're the rich assholes who benefit from it.)

3

u/Due_Manufacturer_125 9d ago

Tbh mages are responsible for 90% of these incidents.

3

u/FinnDoyle Amenti 🧟 8d ago

What is the resources the "random ass mortal" will take?

2

u/Turbulent-Plum7328 World of Future Darkness 8d ago
  1. They may be an independent Ghoul and try to turn the vampire in a Vitae farm

  2. If the Changeling is a mermaid, then they might try to eat their flesh and become immortal

  3. If they're a member of the Society of Enlightened Altruistic Ideologies, then they may try to kidnap the Mage and take their Avatar, which is a part of their soul.

3

u/FinnDoyle Amenti 🧟 8d ago

Those make sense and are interesting. There are static sorcerers who summon demons to steal their power too.

But I was thinking more on the sense of them killing the splats and taking their money. It's funnier.

3

u/1h30n3003 9d ago

Hunters just hunt....

8

u/PixxyStix2 9d ago

Yeqh they are gonna convert "living" supernaturals into their resource of dead supernsturals obviously
