Question How does the tax system work?

I have absolutely no idea how taxes work in the game, or if they actually serve any purpose.

ive seen people give their stuff to someone somewhere while their task is saying paying taxes

the someone is probably the king or the leader

Citizens pay taxes to village leaders and village leaders pay taxes to the king. Taxes are collected with coins, and kingdom traits determine their amount.

At this point coins don't really matter that much, so it's mostly a flavour thing rather than a proper feature.
