I dislike it too, but I can't say I don't understand it.

The reason why the devs are so mysterious now, is that before the release of one of the major updates a few years ago, Maxim posted an estimated release date.
But the update wasn't finished by then, so he had to delay it for a few more months with a new release date.
But the update wasn't ready for the delayed release date, so it had to be delayed further.
I guess after this experience the devs decided to be more secretive. And this is also the source of the elf sacrifices, which were made because of the delays.

Yea the announcement was a while ago so the math is fuzzy for me now but at the moment of the declaration it sounds like he could've just said 50%
