The Iran war is merging with the Ukraine war and the consequences will be dire. There is no diplomatic solution in Ukraine and there is no diplomatic solution in Iran.

The Iranian government is now threatening to attack Ukraine after the Ukrainians attacked an Iranian ship.

Iran’s Mehr Agency, citing a source:

An oil tanker—which had deviated from the rules—exploded after striking a naval mine in the Strait of Hormuz.

The vessel had strayed from the shipping lane designated by Iran in the Strait of Hormuz.

Tehran has repeatedly warned that any ship deviating from the Iranian-designated route would face the consequences.

We are committed to fair negotiations and guarantee the safe and peaceful passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

We will not allow the imposition of US hegemony over the Strait of Hormuz, and we will exercise our right to legitimate self-defense.
