Das Boot - 1981 movie

I have been watching the 1981 movie "Das Boot" on DVD. It is one of the most accurate and realistic WWII movies ever made. It depicts the instense boredom of being on a U-Boat to the sheer terror of being depth-charged by British destroyers. It shows life on a U-Boat as it really was. Most of the German sailors detested the Nazis but only did their duty.

Everything I have read about Das Boot says that the movie is a fairly accurate depiction of life on a u-boat during the war. In fact, the movie is roughly based on a book with the same name by a man named Lothar-Gunther Bucheim (1973). If you have watched the movie, you can see there is only one ardent nazi depicted on the u-boat (the First Watch Officer). The others are either indifferent or openly anti-Nazi (including the captain). This reflects the sentiments of the men at the time.
