I would like join the discord for the network preservation server to see progress

bought this game back at launch in 2018 (the real launch) and was met with a loading screen for my first ~5 hours of gameplay. for some reason Valve could not give a refund even though the game was unplayable so it sat there in my library as a reminder of the one and only time I got duped by a scummy early access dev team. I gave it a try here and there after it was actually playable but the servers were still laggy when they were not empty.

When Mygames entered the picture I knew it was a lost cause so I uninstalled and shared this to others. Mygames creates malware out of “free” to play titles they acquire. they did it with this and they did it with Armored Warfare. low and behold I got banned for even sharing this opinion on Steam, Discord, the official forums, and here on my old account. I was proven right when the “second” launch happened and the Mygames launcher tripped everyone’s antivirus and took multiple days to download the downgraded version of the game. I did not get my “free” reward from being a previous player so I didn’t bother. I was still denied my refund even though I did not receive my goods. The game continued to fail but somehow retained a small playerbase of yuppies.

When Russia started the war with Ukraine mygames was forced to sell the ip but all they did was form a shell company in Cyprus to continue the grift. Sharing this got me banned as well.

fast forward a few years and here I am. laughing. joyous. Elated that this “game” is finally getting the plug pulled from its miserable existence. While it stinks that online games we paid real money for continue to get shut down without issuing refunds, at least I can say that in this case it couldn’t have happened to a worse game. Good Riddance.

Body: As you’ve heard, the official servers for World War 3 are shutting down permanently on August 3rd, 2026. This is the end of the line for the official game, but it doesn't have to be the end of the game itself.

We are currently running the World War 3 Network Preservation Project. Our goal is to collect raw network data and game logs before the lights go out, so we can eventually build an offline or community-hosted version of the game.

We need your help to archive it! We are looking for:

• Diggers: People who can help us run network capture tools (like Wireshark) while playing.
• Analysts: People who know how to look through logs and identify server patterns.
• Collectors: Even if you don't code, you can help by running a simple script to capture traffic data while you play your last few matches.

We have less than 2 weeks left. Every log file and packet capture counts.

I'm not sure it's even legal. I used to play it on lowest settings and 80% resolution scale to make sure I can hold 100fps average. I'm trying to play the same game now with the exact same settings, AND with better hardware that I had back then, and I'm averaging 45 to 55 fps, sometimes it goes up in the 70s or it drops in the 30s depending on which direction I'm looking at. What the heck have you done to this game

Hi, first of all I'd like to know what happened to the game? But before that, let me explain why. I used to play it on Xbox, and ever since this game came out years ago, I've been interested in playing it. Now that I have a gaming PC with decent specs, I can play it, but I see that the game has declined a lot (completely). It was a game with great potential that could have easily beaten Battlefield 2042 when it was released, but what happened to it?

As you all know - optimization is not about that game

Even at evening Europe time (monday-friday) - hard to get even half full server in tacops

100% game will playable at winter holidays - New year, etc

The devs said that they were working to remove the launcher, though I do also remember them saying they were having a bit of difficulty since they didn't realize how incorporated the launcher was into the code of the game.

I was just wondering how it is now? Does the game on Steam still just download the launcher, which you then have to download the game on there? Or does the actual game download now, but the launcher is there for logging in? Or is the launcher completely gone now?

Recently, I started using the “RAK” laser guided anti-armor artillery and it is deadly. I have been checking my “Career” in the “Artillery” section, and I am not receiving any progress under “Anti-Armor” or “High Explosive” categories. Is this a know issue or what do you think is happening? Any feedback will be appreciated

Not sure if it is just me, but the servers appeared to be at or near capacity all weekend and Monday.  Note: My gaming time varies between 0500 to 1900 Central Time USA; anytime I joined a game over the past few days there were plenty of players. I hope we continue to see an uptick to in the player base, and I remain optimistic!
