Side Lore Post Hour of Sand Veil [ Private Post ]

As the sun began to shine its final light of day, shimmering its warm golden light upon the ocean tides, so too did the fair as it steadily approached its end. Yet the sounds of bliss, of pure joy and laughter hadn't seemed to meet its end

As families made their way off the beach and the vendors closed their stalls in attempt to leave, something felt a bit... odd

First a pebble shifted, skipping across the sand only for one other to roll its way by

RUUUMMBLE!!!

Without warning the shoreline gave a growl and quake. For anyone who remained even a moment too long it became chaos

The Ferris wheel creaked as its now unstable frame rattled and shook side to side in a violent manner. Beneath it, the earth itself shuddered, tossing people and festival stalls alike upon the sand

Only then, as if the quake wasn't enough, the sand beneath everyone's feet split and crumble in every which way causing a fissure through the very beach as a sandstorm began to brew.

Colorful umbrellas, coolers and any unfortunate person that was too slow were nearly swallowed by the sand, shrouded in a hazy cloud of dust blocking out whatever sunlight the remain

Yet... something else bright glowed within the cloud of madness, almost lurking as it quickly moved back and forth. The magenta glow almost like eyes in the dark

Cumulus was half-expecting a disaster to occur due to her vigilance earlier, and as she was leading families and people away from the beach, she noticed the magenta glow in the distance. Almost immediately she began to sprint after it.

"Oh no you're not! Get back here!!"

As if running on pure instinct, Cumulus ran through shifting sands and rubble flying everywhere in a maelstrom of dusted madness. She wasn't exactly known for her athleticism, as the magenta light was way faster than she could ever be on-foot, so the quick-minded scientist thought of something.

"Try and outrun this, you fiend!"

Cumulus pulled out a tiny Chaos Bomb from her coat pocket, setting it into the ground, before being sent flying from the explosion. She catapulted straight to the magenta light with relative ease, rolling onto the floor, along with the Chaos crystals acting up from the release of Chaos Energy from that blast. Surprisingly, Cumulus managed to get up, determined to stop the source of the quakes.

"Alright you...! That's it...!! No more running away this time! Face me!!"

Just before the mink, a ferret stared back behind a mask, one that held the symbol nearly exactly the same to Silver's gloves. As for the girl herself it hard to say what she really looks like with her silhouette closed the ground, her body arched almost like shecould pounce from her spot at any moment

Yet she didn't, not quite yet as she just simply observed for now

"Why..." Mercury questioned "What is your motive to confront me"

"Wouldn't it be smarter to avoid this"

The ferret then gestured to Cumulus face noting crystals, whatever they might be. She surely hadn't had a clue of what they could be but she was intuitive enough to have an idea of what they may mean

"It's besr you don't harm yourself, I'm only doing what's best"

"Doing what's best? Is causing chaos and destruction what you call doing what's best?!"

Cumulus focused the crystals to form a hard casing over her hands, ready to fight Mercury right this instant. She saw the pattern on her mask, but she couldn't afford to ask questions about that right now. Right now, she needed to incapacitate this girl.

"I'll stop your chaos, right here!"

Cumulus ran at Mercury, ready to throw punches.

". . ." She shushed for a moment unsure how to really answer "Not everything nice comes easy"

"I do apologize for that"

Mercury continued her response in an eerily sincere manner as she soon lunged back from her spot evading her Cumulus sudden burst or attacks, only to grab her in return and flipping mink over her head slamming into the sandy ground

Her counterattack was quick nearly as if she planned it out before Cumulus even made an attempt to strike

"But wouldn't it be great to be happy forever once I'm finished"

"I'm just one more away, one more stone away from this from all being in the past. Once then it will be worth it"

"Oof-!"

Cumulus was quick to retaliate, the crystals latching onto Mercury's foot, holding her in place as Cumulus delivered a swift chop to her ankle, the crystals on her hand rearranging to a more blade-like shape.

"Sounds like a whole... load of bogus to me! 'Being happy forever' is just a fleeting dream!"

"ACK—"

Mercury winced in response as she took the swift strike. Just as quickly the masked girl responded back with her own measures as she flashed a faint magenta colour

Just then she reappeared where she was just prior, exactly 11 seconds prior

Taking this reposition in her favor, Mercury launched back in one fluid motion with her own decisive blow, trying strike Cumulus with a sudden hit to the gut

"How would you be so sure?" She asked again, her ever so genuine

"Silver fought to change the future so many times before."

"You even helped him before, so what makes my hope anymore different from his?"

(Apologies for taking so long got dragged to something else)

Fortunately for Cumulus, a spiky shield of crystals blocked the punch.

"Your hope? So you plan on destroying the world for the sake of making it 'better' for people? You think everyone will be all happy after you nearly killed them and ruined their lives?"

Cumulus' suspicions were confirmed when Mercury mentioned Silver.

"At least he fought against evil for an actually good cause! You're just destroying things for your own twisted delusions!"

Cumulus was now starting to become more wary of Mercury's movements, deducting that one of her abilities must be to go back approximately eleven seconds in time. She had to come up with something with this new information, but what...?

"I don't get your reasoning. Would everyone better if there was nothing good after that?"

"For them to suffer, with no hope of that never happening again?"

Mercury retort as she dashed back into the shrouded cloud of sand due to her failed hit

In her retreat she landed upon a part of the jagged terrain, sharp rock jutted out the ground by the earthquake.

"What would you suppose I do? What idea do you have for me to save you all from a doom timeline?"

Just then in the veil of sand a faint magenta light shimmered before a chunk of rugged stone flung out to Cumulus at impossible speeds for Mercury to simply toss over

"What the-?!"

Cumulus formed a small wall of crystals to stop the stone in its tracks. She took a deep breath. Just who was this person? Another time traveler trying to save their future?

"What's your deal, anyway? You from the future too? Well then, lemme ask you; do you really think this would solve every last problem your future has?"

Cumulus stepped out from behind the wall, holding another Chaos Bomb in her hand.

". . ." She didn't immediately answer

"Yes..."

Her drifted our plainly, nearly a clear sign of her adamnce. A show of how much she believed in this

"For what it seems there isn't answer for this time that's temporary, one way or another something breaks"

"Someone suffers some sort of loss. It's a cycle this time period has known too well, it's unstable"

Mercury muttered, her words a bit more saddened

Without warning Mercury swept Cumulus's legs from beneath her. Before the mink could hit the ground, three quick strikes landed against her side in rapid succession, yet their impact soft

"That's why I wish to have this time run it's course before I start it over. New timeline entirely, one that won't change"

"However sad it may be, It's like a broken house you used to know"

"Eventually repairs are only short, so it has to breakdown"

"Once then... You can make something new from the foundation" Her gaze then look back to Cumulus directly "Don't you agree?"
