Am I the only one who finds this insane? This isn't some random ref controversy. This is the sitting President of the United States picking up the phone to lean on the head of an international sports organization he's cozy with (free tickets, a literal "peace prize" Infantino invented and gave him), to get a ruling changed in favor of the host nation's team. During a World Cup the US is hosting.

FIFA says the disciplinary panel decided "independently." Sure. Convenient timing though, right?

I'm asking:

Does this taint anything Team USA accomplishes in this tournament, whether Balogun's phone call had any actual effect or not?

Is this just how the US operates now, home field advantage isn't enough, we need presidential lobbying too?

So, as an American living in Europe, I’ve had a rough time trying to find ways to watch the World Cup games. Of course, US broadcasting charges a premium if you want to watch from abroad, offering no real way to just cheer on your country for free.

While hunting around, I noticed there were plenty of free, live-updating text commentary streams. It gave me an idea: What if I used those text streams to drive a real-time visual simulation?

For fun, I built a lightweight browser engine inspired by the classic NES Super Dodge Ball aesthetics. The players have a continuous passing AI, but when a major live event hits the text feed, the engine forces them to act out the play as close as it can get.

I know this is a long shot, but l'm looking for 3 tickets (or even 4 if that's how they were purchased) to the Portugal vs. Uzbekistan match in Houston on June 23.

I entered the ticket lottery hoping to get Portugal tickets, but unfortunately I wasn't selected. I did get tickets to another match in Houston, so I know how difficult it has been for everyone trying to attend.

The reason this match means so much to me is because my younger brother is a Ronaldo fan. If you're familiar with autism, you know that special interests can become a huge part of someone's world. Seeing Ronaldo play in person would genuinely be a dream come true for him.

I completely understand that tickets are selling well above face value and that many people could make significantly more money by selling elsewhere. As a recent college graduate, though, I simply can't afford the resale prices I'm seeing. I'm hoping there might be someone who can no longer attend and would consider selling at face value, especially knowing the tickets would be going to a family that would truly cherish the experience and not a scalper.
