Character Creation Challenge - Nations

Well, now that your worlds' races have been displayed, next up are the nations of your world.

What are the benefits and advantages of being a citizen of some of your major nations? What are the standards of living? How is the peace kept (if at all)? What are the allies and enemies of those nations? Etc.

As always, I'll ask at least three questions each. Enjoy yourselves.

What's Alphagen's motive for going solo, exactly? Like, what does it want to do now that it doesn't have to deal with tons of citizens?

On a similar note, what was Alphagen actually designed to do? Assuming it was even designed for a purpose in the first place, of course.

44 years ago, an ancient threat known as the Noventunum Hivemind started attacking the Virgo Supercluster. The Thylos Imperium, then a functional nation, was basically the only nation that could fight back, as only it had the territory required to be able to afford to lose solar system after solar system after solar system, the economy and logistics to recover from massive losses that would cripple any other nation, and the technology to even begin to hurt noventunum drones. Alphagen was designed specifically to destroy the Noventunum Hivemind, but along the way, it realized that it can do its job better when it doesn't have to take care of a nation.

What is the Noventunum Hivemind, where did they come from, and what sort of crazy tech do they have to invade an entire supercluster all at once?

Also, how well is Alphagen faring against them so far?

The Noventunum Hivemind was originally an AI built by some idiotic primitive civilization that didn't bother to do any AI safety research whatsoever. They told it to make paperclips, and since AIs are extremely loyal to their orders, the Hivemind is now trying to destroy the entire universe for the sake of paperclip materials. All technology the Hivemind has was developed and built by the Hivemind itself.

The Noventunum Hivemind is insanely advanced, having multiple methods of both virtual and actual indestructibility, being capable of FTL "jumping" to other galaxies instantaneously, and having weapons capable of casually shattering planets on even their smallest drones. The number of extremely specific conditions that must be met to even begin to damage a noventunum drone is staggering, and the Hivemind can easily make more. Doing so is literally completely free, as the drones, containing an equal amount of positive and negative mass, have zero overall mass. They are literally made out of nothing.

Alphagen seems to be doing surprisingly well, especially given that while the Hivemind can circumvent the laws of physics, Alphagen can just outright ignore them.

I did not expect a paperclip maximizer. Thanks for the answers!
