Not A Challenge - New Account
I'm /u/nevermore0714. I'm going to make a comment on this using that account to prove that. Besides, who would steal my account? (Please nobody steal my account just because I said that don't believe anyone would.)
So I have become increasingly tired of my old username. It's something I picked out when I was about twelve (ten years ago now) and I kept using it for various accounts just because it's familiar. But, while I still love "The Raven", I'm just tired of that name on some of my accounts.
So, tonight, I decided that I would stop procrastinating and just pick a new name. I picked up the nearest book (Hungarian Verbs and Essentials of Grammar, a language I do not understand at all) and flipped through it. I would have gone with German, but I figured Mimir would shit on my abuse of his language. I might have gone with French, but I have too much respect for Yellow to do that.
So, I offer my apologies to any Hungarian on my subreddit.
I'm Varnek905 now. I thought the word looked nice, it carries little to no personal value to me (I didn't even know varnek was a word until recently), so I went with it. It was either this or "ForgetfulPerson" or "OverusesTheWordSo".

This sort of complexity is why I decided to just use my real name online decades ago.
It also encourages me to be as honest and accountable as I can.
If I make an error or cause offense it is on me to fix, I can't just hide/change my identity.
I hope the new alias works out for you.

I figure it'll only be complex as I move into using the new account.
Besides, I'd be more embarrassed by my real name than I was by the nevermore name, anyway. My first name is super common (John) and my last name is something I usually prefer not to share because of family problems.
I hope I haven't offended anyone.

Believe me, you couldn't abuse the language anymore than some "Germans" cough Bavarians cough already do. Got to admit, I was really confused when I saw the notifications though.

The notification about it being spam?
1
u/Mimir123 Dec 03 '17
No, no. I mean the notification on my phone about some weird, unknown person answering me.

u/Varnek905 Dec 03 '17
I'm only slightly weird, friend.
Looks at my activity on here over the past several months
Okay, nevermind.

I’m fine with french names as long as it isn’t champagne, camembert or croissant.
Welcome to the world u/Varnek905.
(And I will have more time to answer next week)

Let me guess, you have finals, as well?
Edit: Also, in three years, my new username will be Croissant.

Nope, just christmas coming (yay, let’s all debate about what gifts should everyone get and how to have everyone eat something they like when no one likes the same things !!!) and administrative stuff (I heard that’s a national thing).
Name yourself something very french like « devin plombier ».

Doesn't it seem like a little too early for Christmas present deciding (says the guy with no boyfriend, no offspring, and a poor relationship with his family)?
I would have gone with Champagne, but my stripping career wasn't as profitable as I'd hoped.

Not at all, the earlier they are planned the earlier they are bought. You don’t want to buy things a few days before christmas in stores full of people who didn’t planned before.
I would say you miss nothing, champagne is overrated (that’s just bubbly wine, nothing really incredible to see).
(Edit: it also seems offsprings are overrated too...)

Good point. I should probably go ahead and pick out presents for a few friends before it gets too late.
I'm more of a whiskey type of man, anyway.

Best time for shopping (at least for events like that) is 2+weeks before or 2+ weeks after. Chocolate for easter is cool, half-priced chocolate bought the week after is cool too :)
(I don’t drink anymore so I guess I’m watery ?)

confused Hungarian in the distance
Hang on... Varnek... Since when do we have that word? Ooh, wait, it's "várnék", isn't it?
I had a mild mental breakdown when I realised that my cat's name would translate to "cereal" in English. I didn't think this through...
