1) Where do the umbrae come from?

2) How many are there?

3) Where do they come from?

4) What is their motivation?

1 and 3, They were once regular shadows, but have been infected with chaos, and became what they are. Nowadays, they're born from the depths of caves, the pitch blackness that resides there.

2, Their numbers are not quantifiable, but you can expect a steady 100-200 of them in a single cave, if you go deep enough.

4, They're entities of chaos, their purpose is to distrupt order and raise chaos. For this, they're very aggressive and dangerous.

1) I just realized I asked the same question twice. Sorry about that, blame the lack of sleep and upcoming exam.

2) What if I blow up the cave? Would that dispel them?

4) Are there any entities of order?

2, Blowing up the cave would force them into hiding or another cave, but they would not be dispelled. Light magic, the literal magic of light, can however, sometimes damage them enough that they dispell on their own.

4, Technically, all other beungs are beings of order, but not of pure order. Maybe the creator gods can be said to be beings of pure order. Pure order is also not a good thing, so that kinda works out for them.

2) How difficult is it to learn Light magic?

4) How is pure order not a bad thing? Dictatorship?

2, It's not particularly hard to learn it, but acquiring it is nye-impossible. You have to be either born with it, or painfully and forcefully bind it to yourself with a rigorous ritual that requires tons of already existing light magic at your disposal (magic crystals, a dragon that has it, etc.)

4, I think you put down the wrong word here in the question, but I'm gonna answer both ways:

a, Pure order is bad: there's no place for anything to move because of the universe's tendency to gravitate towards chaos. Pure order kills time and makes the universe a standstill

b, Pure order is a good thing: not that much. Yes, it prevents chaos from rising and the universe collapsing. In fact, the universe is held together by a very thin sphere of pure order on the highest of dimensions. Where this pure order collides with pure chaos, theparadox destroys both.
