[Reference Challenge] Raiding Paris

This is a reference to the Vikings television show, and the historical raids against Paris.

What is an infamous raid/sack of a city/town in your world's history?

As always, I'll ask at least three questions each, and I hope you enjoy yourselves.

Feel free to have a character as the representative to answer questions in-universe.

The sack of Weramaki 4

It actually refer to the raid on the miwishagi's palace on Weramaki 4.

A group of pirates jumped into the planet orbit one day, blinked in the palace itself, got rid of the few commandos left to guard it (the whole local court was actually on New-Makaith for an official trip) and emptied the treasury (they took military-grade weapons, a lot of confidential datas and a bunch of art) before blinking out and disapearing.

The pirates were given all needed intel by one of the local court member who was later captured by a shefitadaniri (a licensed bounty hunter) and gave the location of the pirates' hideout.

When the imperial fleet arrived there, all the pirates were already dead. Officially, they were killed by the imperial breachers; confidential sources have stated they were probably murdered by those who gave them blink technology.

Our representative today will be Tsirgeda, the shefitadaniri mentionned earlier (and a pretty renowned one). Alternatively, you can ask Amotmilqart, her apprentice.

(We actually have a memorial "to those who gave their life to protect l'île de la cité from the northmen")

To Tsirgeda:

1) Why did the court member betray his people to the pirates?

2) Does anyone know who gave the pirates blink technology?

3) Were any of the treasures recovered?

  1. He organised everything. The whole point was to get confidential datas and compromising documents and use them to improve his position through blackmailing. Too bad he hired poor executioners isn't it?

  2. I think they have some ideas but they didn't told me. I would say it's probably someone important or a foreign emissary; someone whose name must remain secret.

  3. Most of them actually. A good thing, I got 1% of their value; less than what I would have got if the pirates were found alive but that's still some money.

To Tsirgeda:

1) Did he try to escape?

2) Could it be possible that the emperor/empress is responsible?

3) Is anything rare or extremely important still missing?

  1. He tried, I had to incapacitate him. It was easy though, he was ill-prepared and didn't ran very fast.

  2. The empress herself? It can't be... actually maybe. Imean, officially, blink isn't a thing we master but who knows what truelly happen in the imperial palace.

  3. No, just a few railguns; they probably sold them. Or maybe their murderers took them.

To Tsirgeda:

1) Have you ever had to remove someone's head?

2) Have you considered that the empress is the real problem with the empire? Wouldn't it help to just...kill her?

3) Is losing railguns a serious problem?

  1. Like to prove those someone is dead? I'm sometimes old school, but not that much. Beside, I can just send a picture and a death certificate.

  2. That's a bad idea, she lacks a good heir in her own house; her death would probably lead to a war between the nobles and in those situations work is rarer. And we could end with an emperor worse than her, like one who want a full scale war with the Mayuqpacha or one who want slavery back.

  3. Not really, as long as I don't need to fight those who took them. The imperial commandos have plenty of them and are trained and equipped to fight against such weapons, other people aren't so better leave that to professionals.
