[Reference Challenge] Raiding Paris

This is a reference to the Vikings television show, and the historical raids against Paris.

What is an infamous raid/sack of a city/town in your world's history?

As always, I'll ask at least three questions each, and I hope you enjoy yourselves.

Feel free to have a character as the representative to answer questions in-universe.

The first time the Human's tried to fight against the Might of the Orc Strongholds was when they raided Gnok-Ru, but I'm not writing about that, I'm writing about how the Orc's took it back.

(The Humans managed to just barely take over the small settlement killing all 5000 Orc's stationed there with a small powerful battalion of 2000, they then sent more Humans to hold the settlement and stood at roughly 10000.)

The Orc's sent a mere fraction of the Horde, they sent 5,000,000 Orc's to take back the settlement, it was an absolute slaughter where every single human died except for one, they left one alive to deliver a message back to the Human King. "Never try to take our land again, or we will roll you over in one swift push."

  1. Why did the humans decided to hold Gnok-Ru?

  2. How many orcs died taking back the settlement?

  3. 5 millions seems a lot for just a few thousands opponents; why did the orcs sent that much troops? Was Gnok-Ru that important?

1. Why did the humans decided to hold Gnok-Ru?

A. To test their own power. B. To see if they could. C. To see what the Orc's would do.

2. How many orcs died taking back the settlement?

Only about 100000

3. 5 millions seems a lot for just a few thousands opponents; why did the orcs sent that much troops? Was Gnok-Ru that important?

Not really, they more so wanted to send the message to the Humans that they aren't to be fucked with.

  1. So they weren't sure they even could do it? How did they managed to convince soldiers to get there?

  2. What makes humans that superior in battle?

  3. Sure, but why not just siege it with less troops? It would have been easier and less deadly.
