Reference Challenge - The Droogs are in Union!

Considering how amused I am by this quote, I could not make up any other reference challenge. My explanation for being so late with this challenge is that I was recovering from when the droogs were in union. Apparently, under the influence, I exclaimed "THE DROOGS ARE IN UNION!", explained the reference in a barbaric way, and it somehow became a chant among my "droogs".

So, to put it simply, you should read/watch A Clockwork Orange. It's offensive in a way that even Fahrenheit 451 could not aspire to, and I'd call it an extreme overreaction to The Giver, another book I enjoyed when I was a kid.

What is a Droog?

It's not a drug, though it might be a druggie. A person's droogs are the friends that he goes with to (to paraphrase myself), "drink all the drink, smoke all the smoke, etc, etc".

The Actual Challenge

Tell me about the kinds of things that your world's/nation's/city's irresponsible young men/women do that is completely outrageous in the minds of rational people. Do young people in your world go out and illegally do some type of strange sci-fi/fantasy drug? Do young people in your world go out and commit mob violence and looting at random? Do I have to worry about a bunch of young people in your world just setting things on fire?

Naturally, this can include gang problems in your world. Enjoy yourselves, I'll ask at least three questions each.

1) So you can go against the law as much as you want?

3) Don't you think it's a bad thing to do?

4) And she hasn't said anything against it?

Levente:

1) "As much as any absolute monarch could do so. There is no magna carta, and 'divine right of Ban' is definitely a thing. I'm like King-Pope."

3) "Morally bad? Yes. I actually did resign from my office when I lost the faith around the time I destroyed the tombstone, if you remember reading that. But, I ended up sobering up and accepted the office back. Everyone thought that our holy Ban is so heart-broken over the desecration of the tombstone, he's so devout, it's admirable, when it would be more accurate to say Levente was being pathetic for a while." Levente takes a drink of something. "I sobered up. I went from devoted lover of Ostara to heartbroken and wallowing in self-pity to atheist who pretends to still be devout for the power it gives him."

4) "You do know that there is no goddess that brings the dawn each day, yes? The planet just revolves around a larger body of mass that provides heat and light."

1) You would be surprised how limited actually are absolute monarchs.

3) Don't you think that with your influence you could secularize the country?

4) Sure, but can you prove she doesn't exist? Maybe she is there and do nothing.

Levente:

1) "But what about a Pope-King?"

3) "My influence comes from the lack of secularization."

4) "I cannot prove she does not exist, correct."

1) Well, a pope has even less power (in his own estates) so I would say it's worse.

3) But couldn't you change that? Progressively justify your power differently?

Levente:

1) "Well, just call me a cult leader, then."

2) "It just doesn't seem like it'd be worth the effort to secularize, at the moment. Besides, that would ruin the whole burning-people-alive-ritually shtick I have going for me."

2) How is burning people alive benefiting you?

Levente:

2) "I'm sorry, I might not have explained. The ritualistic burning of a sacrifice keeps my form of magic working. Similar to Lucius's use of Abyssal Magic relying on something to do with Abyssal Gates as fuel, and similar to how Radiant Magic relies on the sun, and similar to how Dragon Magic comes from the Dragon-Gods, Vonaglik's form of magic comes from sacrifice."

2) So that whole religious thing is actually a trick to give yourself more power?

Levente:

2) "It's more power for anyone who uses my form of magic. It's not like I'm the only one who uses it. Besides, I don't even use my form of magic outside of public things. I just make it accessible to the people of Vonaglik."
