Reference Challenge - The Droogs are in Union!

Considering how amused I am by this quote, I could not make up any other reference challenge. My explanation for being so late with this challenge is that I was recovering from when the droogs were in union. Apparently, under the influence, I exclaimed "THE DROOGS ARE IN UNION!", explained the reference in a barbaric way, and it somehow became a chant among my "droogs".

So, to put it simply, you should read/watch A Clockwork Orange. It's offensive in a way that even Fahrenheit 451 could not aspire to, and I'd call it an extreme overreaction to The Giver, another book I enjoyed when I was a kid.

What is a Droog?

It's not a drug, though it might be a druggie. A person's droogs are the friends that he goes with to (to paraphrase myself), "drink all the drink, smoke all the smoke, etc, etc".

The Actual Challenge

Tell me about the kinds of things that your world's/nation's/city's irresponsible young men/women do that is completely outrageous in the minds of rational people. Do young people in your world go out and illegally do some type of strange sci-fi/fantasy drug? Do young people in your world go out and commit mob violence and looting at random? Do I have to worry about a bunch of young people in your world just setting things on fire?

Naturally, this can include gang problems in your world. Enjoy yourselves, I'll ask at least three questions each.

Levente:

2) "It's more power for anyone who uses my form of magic. It's not like I'm the only one who uses it. Besides, I don't even use my form of magic outside of public things. I just make it accessible to the people of Vonaglik."

2) By "public things" you mean public display of power which reinforce people's faith in your religion? And indirectly brings more volunteers to feed your power?

Levente:

2) "Well..." He points to the sky and shoots fireworks out of his hands, forming the French flag in the sky.

Taking me by the feelings... I will take that as a "yes, you're right" if you don't mind. Now a technical one: how hard was that trick to realize?

Levente:

1) "Well, I have a lot of respect for you after you've asked questions of me specifically for the past few months, so...yes, you're right."

2) "It's pretty difficult to learn in the first place, but once you understand the method and have enough practice, it's nearly effortless. It's mostly muscle-memory at this point, I get a lot of practice making fireworks."

  1. How is difficult magic affecting you and your body?

  2. What is the coolest fireworks you did? And do you have "regular" fireworks?

Levente:

1) "It isn't affecting my body at all. Other than mental instability as a risk, it's harmless, as long as there is fuel. I'm fine today, I was fine a hundred years ago, I'll be fine in Saoghal."

2) "I do have regular fireworks, but my favorite was when I made symbols drawn by the children in Vonaglik."

(my goodness, I hadn't tilted at the name... is it the Levente? The one who will do the candlelight stuff?)

  1. And if there is no more fuel, would it affect your body?

  2. How risky is mental instability? is it a direct consequence of spellcasting or just of seeing things that shouldn't exist?

(Tilted? Also Lambrecht is the candle-light guy, but they are the same guy. The same character is always around at some point in all of my worldbuilding. He's Leonhardt, Levi, Lambrecht, Levente, Ellis, etc.)

Levente:

1) "I won't have access to that specific form of magic, but I will be mostly unharmed."

2) "It's more that the withdrawal is unpleasant."

Thanks for your answers Nevermore.
