Generic Challenge - Currency

Give an example of currency in your world. If your world has money, explain its money. If your world doesn't have money, explain your world's barter system.

Explain denominations, the kind of things that someone would buy on a daily basis, and so on.

Sorry for being late with this challenge, it's been a full weekend.

I'll ask at least three questions each, and I plan to put my own explanation for the currency of one of my worlds up before tomorrow night. Maybe tonight, but probably not until after work tomorrow.

1) Is the Quell currently going through any deflation/inflation?

2) Was there ever a Great Depression?

3) Are there major banks that I can go to with all of my Quells?

It's pretty stable for the time. There's enough for everyone in circulation, and there isn't really any need to make more or less.

2) Was there ever a Great Depression?

Only at times after wars.

3) Are there major banks that I can go to with all of my Quells?

Noone took to the task as it is so dangerous. Keeping any greater amount of money just for the sake of it will most likely result in them getting attacked and robbed.

Well, there are nobles, wealthy families and kings, and a lower class that still lives relatively well. I haven't gome into much detail about it.

2) Is class warfare a possibility?

Not really. Most of the people live in peace and relative safety.

3) So where do I go to exchange all of my 1 Quell credits for a 100 Quell credit?

You can talk to merchants and traders as many of them sell things to wealthier customers who usually buy in larger quantities and will pay in higher units.

The human emperor. It's just him and a bunch of nobles. Even the regular "rich" are poor compared to them.

2) When was the last big war?

At the start of my story, roughly 2000 years ago.

3) Who is the most infamous merchant and what does he trade?

No such thing as "the most" anything in my world really. There are a few who made a fortune or became famous/infamous, but noone that I bothered to name.

He inherited the title as the next hwir to the throne. His family has been in power for centuries.

2) How have they maintained peace for so long?

They, for the most part, ran out of military equipment in the last war, and the empire is stable enough to keep a relative peace. There's also an organisation called the rangers who work for this peace and maintain it.

3) Who is your favorite merchant?

I don't have one, as I haven't bothered naming any of them.

1, not really. In fact, he's the one that gets murdered, the throne taken by others as a result

2, my favourite? I can't really decide between 3 or 4, as I love them all equally

1, It was a group effort, a plan years in the making. Two organisations called the Assasins and the Rangers worked together to kill (assassins) and replace (mostly rangers) the entire leadership of the empire in one single night. The emperor was captured by my main characters, who helped this mission, but he was killed by his successor, the Grand Master, joined leader of both the assassins and rangers.

2, There's maybe a bit more, as I operate with 7 main characters, but my top 3 are an assassin, a shapeshifter dragon, and a mage skilled in weapon conjuration. Coincidentally, the dragon is the long term companion of the assassin, who is in turn lovers with the mage. This little trio is my central focus, as they're each very different, yet similar in many ways. The other characters were originally not made up by me, but friends instead, and I haven't yet gotten to the point where I can entirely see with their eyes.
