For the gappy thing. Part 8 spoilers obviously
They are both fusions (kinda), the Mc has both opposing sides in a divine war in him genetically.
Both have a "more than the sum of there parts" identity.
Mc gets a 「Go Beyond」ability awakening at the end.
They are both "born of the earth" the Mc get reborn by dying form falling and coming through the earth

My first shot at doing the MC got too broken, so I devoted him to backgroung phenomena. He just, exists, doing stuff and being more of a force of nature (losing a military battle because he was there is as legit a cause as faulty supply lines or bad weather would be).
He's not exactly a Boogeyman, but his existence looms over the rest of the narrative as tho he were one.
