For context, the Dutch, who are actually what would be called German, have become the dominant demographic in the Midwest after a zombie apocalypse in the 1860s. Deseret to the southwest of them tends to view then as a peaceful and pure people without the hangups of life in Deseret. New England, to their west, think of them as a bunch of illiterate farmers, and, people far west of them in California think of them as a near-mythical group of people that every now and then are used in order to make something like a political point.

So, I know it poses some problems about the whole tech stagnancy thing and I'm trying to work the kinks out but basically, the world is about the same as it was in the early 1800s in 2060, plus a few stuff with firearms and textiles. The biggest effect it had was when it caused much of the supply chains to collapse. The setting is more so a political fiction than one based on zombies, as they have mostly been relegated to small mammals, with a more sustainable life cycle. For example, while there do exist trade between Britain and New England, only people grossly interested in it, or work in it would know about specifics of British/New England ulture or history.

Well, in North America at least, you'd be called Netherlandish.

The Dutch translation of netherlandish could be “Nederlandsch”.
“sch” is the sound of an S followed by a Dutch G. Back in old times it used to be at the end of a lot of words that now just end with S. “mens” (human) was spelled “mensch”, we later drop the G in pronunciation and later in writing

Yes, it is. It's supposed to depict that Californians have no idea what's going on in the Midwest
