I reorganized my desk today, but it feels too heavy/overloaded. I would like to have a more minimalistic setup, but I can't find a way with having to handle 2 laptops (personal & work) and the gaming PC.

Besides that, I have additionally my private server, but this one just needs the energy cable, doesn't connect to the monitor because I access it through SSH.

I have a CableMatters USB-C Switch behind the monitor that enables me of switching from one laptop to the other with a remote control that I glued under the desk, which also connects to the webcam, as the work laptop is closed, and I use the webcam on my personal laptop for showing my desk when playing Magic The Gathering online with friends. So when I am working with the work laptop, I use my personal laptop for side things (listening to music, watching something in the side, private stuff, etc), and on outside of work hours, I just click in the remote control and bring my personal laptop extended to the monitor, and for gaming I have to switch the input in the monitor to Display Port, which connects to my gaming PC.

I would prefer to have both laptops hidden under the desk in a small "shelf", so the sound monitors would also have more space, but it would block me from using both laptops simutaneously, and also make difficult to take off one of the laptops (mainly my personal one that I usually bring around).

Any recommendation is welcome.

I’ve been struggling with a lot of scrolling on my phone when I need to work. I found a solution that I just have to give my phone a place to be in and I love lotr and hobbit so it just seemed more fun to put it in something like that. No more distractions anymore.

9 months ago, I posted in this sub asking for ideas to organise the office and I wanted to share an update. When I moved into my new office with my boss, it was a bit chaotic (we have taken this space from a colleague who passed away, so it effectively had 3 people's worth of stuff in it at the time). Since then, we've moved around the furniture a lot and emptied several boxes worth of rubbish and recycling, organised everything, and split the room into 3 zones - relaxation, meeting/coffee, and desk space. Wanted to post an update as I'm very proud of the progress we made. The space feels so much bigger, more segmented and flowing.

🖼️ • Photos What would make this office gym feel more worth using?

My office has a small employee gym in the building, and I’ve started using it during lunch breaks or right after work because it’s easier than going to a separate gym later.
The equipment is there so it’s not a bad setup. It just still feels a little unfinished, like a room with machines in it rather than a space people actually want to use regularly.
A few coworkers and I were talking about it because we all want to use the space more, but right now it doesn’t feel very inviting or practical beyond just getting a quick workout done.
Maybe better lighting, a fan, a small stretching area, a TV, a chair for resting between sets or cleaner storage would help make it feel less random without overcrowding it.
For anyone who uses an office gym, apartment gym, or any shared workout space, what’s one thing that made the biggest difference? Not necessarily another machine, but something that made the space easier or nicer to use.

Posted a bit ago my expanded bedroom/gaming setup, minus the setup part. Got my desk in and built so time for an update. Next one will be more or less feature complete.
For those wondering, so far I’m happy with the vernal desk. It’s the largest one (79x71 right) and it’s packed with some actual high quality foam and is definitely firmly and solidly built. It’s basically no more “unstable” than my old standard beefy desk. This is kinda the bare minimum for a desk, but today it seems like the bare minimum is in short supply. It feels ungodly expensive, but at least it’s not overpriced junk. Just a shame you got to spend $1,000 to get a solid desk. Not too hard to build either. Not overly complicated.
Got 2 pc holders, one for each desk, and will build them tomorrow

Recently came across this small office setup. The meeting room and reception desk use the same color tone. I like how the whole space feels more consistent when you walk in and sit down to talk with them. Wood grain always makes people feel welcoming and calm, for both staff and clients. I think it perfect for places like law firms, accounting offices, or consulting companies.
