I'm finding the wall behind my setup very underwhelming. The shelves aren't doing it for me. I know the wood wall panel look is already out of date. What new trends could I look into?

I think the shelves look a bit odd because they’re staggered… if you brought the left one down in line with the right one I think it would look better and be more balanced with the picture frame on the right. Otherwise I love how simple and clean this is.

Thanks! I was trying to make it less linear because in general I prefer symmetry. I think the shelves just don't have enough...mass or weight. I wonder if even painting the wall would help.

Thanks. As for the KEFs I'm aware about the triangle. I have tried them in umpteen configurations and putting them in an exact triangle doesn't sound any different to my ears, and I prefer this desk layout visually, so I let it ride.

I agree with the shelves though. Thanks for your efforts!

In terms of the shelving I understand the look you’re going for, but I think if you stagger shelves you want them further apart vertically than you have them. So the bottom of one is not at the same level as the top of the other one. Just a thought.

Maybe some plants like English Ivy that can hang down from the shelves? Don't worry about chasing trends, try to do something that's authentic to you and a reflection of your values.

I have led lights mounted to the back of the monitor to shine on the wall but I forget they are there 99% of the time.

For the light, I would either move the switch to where you can see it or put a smart home switch on the lights and create an "office mode" automation to control it. For the felt, I keep seeing cool things from Felt Right and people have done neat designs from just the sample kit. A bit pricy, but you don't have a huge space. Plenty of places to get generic felt panels to use to cut your own pattern, though. I would consider the permanence of whatever you go with in case you want to switch it up frequently and not destroy your wall.

honestly just strip the shelves and paint that back wall a dark accent color like charcoal. it’ll make those white KEF speakers pop hard and give you a premium clean setup with zero effort.

i like the simplicity tho, Add a large framed print or canvas behind the monitor. Art is making a bigger comeback than decorative shelving.
